Just to update this one folks, Knockhill on the 22nd is now cancelled and will be rescheduled for later in the year.

I'll update that as soon I hear through the grapevine.

Get them on the gate, normal entry price. No discounts at Crail.

There's a thread already running, have a read.

Still waiting to hear back about that chap.

Knockhill originally advertised it as the 22nd of April and hence, people stuck it in their diary. I then went onto their website to copy some details and discovered it was just a normal hot hatch day, no Total Vauxhall mentioned. I rang them and it seems they had used last years schedule (even though the event wasn't on the 22nd last year...) I spoke to the office, they spoke to Knockhill and another date was suggested. The end of October... what use is that, it'll be raining/snowing/dark by that stage. I pointed that out but seems all summer dates will be too close to the big southern shows. Not that i see how that matters, I'm sure we'd do Knockhill one weekend and then the likes of PVS or Billing the next.

So, to cut a long story short... yes there are plans for a Total Vauxhall covered event at Knockhill this summer, but so far nothing has been decided.

I'll go see if I can get anymore info.

The short of it is, it seems to have been pushed to the back burner. Total Vauxhall don't arrange events as such, jsut cover them so it's really down to Knockhill to come up with a date and then the magazine / forums will help promote it.

I did speak to Dan (the editor) and suggest that 'we', as in teh Scottish clubs, pick up the ball and run with it. Perhaps approach Knockhill, see if they're still willing to run a Vauxhall day alongside an established Hot Hatch event.

My thoughts were to speak to them, suggest they allocate paddock 2 (behind the hairpin shelter) for Vauxhall clubs only and then allow the clubs to fill it. Knockhill would run the gate, the clubs would arrnage their own parking areas etc and that's it really.

Truth be told, Knockhill don't seem that bothered... perhaps last years torrential rain and subsequent poor turn out has taken the shine of it for them this year.

I'm willing to speak to Knockhill, see what their feelings are and report back.

    Stand by...

    Re: Show Dates 2012

Right, had a wee look into the whole Knockhill / Vauxhall thing and given it was meant to be on the 22nd, ie alongside an already planned Hot Hatch day and then cancelled... it leaves an issue as every Hot Hatch day between now and the one on the 21st of October is 'themed'. Plus, there are two events aimed at modified cars but one is on the 10th June (PVS @ Santa Pod) and the next is the 15th of July (VBOA Rally @ Billing)

Knockhill events list - motor racing events in Scotland

So basically, to bolt a Vauxhall event onto the side of an already planned Hot Hatch day is impossible... unless it's the one in October or November. On that note, looks like there's little chance of there being a Vauxhall themed day up the Hill this summer.

Still at a loss as to why they pulled the plug for the one planned for this Sunday.

Shame. I'll look into other options for us for this summer.

How about looking into the Bridge of Allan/Glamis Castle car shows, granted they're static shows but should be a good variety of motors.

It's also been confirmed that the tuning / performance / fibre-glass / modified car show that was on at Ingliston has had the plug pulled as well this summer.

Perhaps we should look at doing a few more shows on a local level... classic car days / local shows etc?

Get the club out and about a bit more.

You posted that just as I suggested doing some smaller events too!

Will have a look round... open to suggestions folks.

Any local events worth attending as a club?

I'd say the great minds thing but I'm not sure our minds are great, mine definitely isn't!

There used to be a half decent one at Chatelherault but it seems to have ended. There's a Rides and Rides show at Loudon theme park though that could be a proper chav fest and might have happened already.

I'll head into the world of the forums and see what pops up!

Alot of localised events seem to be struggling and have since disappeared. Chaterhault, Loudon Castle, Ingliston... all gone. Cars and Rides moved to Starthcylde Park I think and got a really bad press. Was speaking to a chap the other week who said it was a bit of a joke.

    I'm currently forum hopping too...

    Re: Show Dates 2012

The Strathaven one is on the 20th of may, same day as the RS day at Knockhill so unfortunately ahm oot... I'm away to gawp at Cossies all day.

The Selkirk one looks good as does Kielder... I take it they're not adverse to a few performance Vauxhalls rocking up? Maybe better investigate further...

The off road club I'm a member of do the Selkirk show and there's new stuff there so I guess it's fine. It's about £2 entry too! No eyed deer about the Kielder one but if nothing else it can be a good drive down.

Hmmm, fast Fords do tempt me muchness and it's a good bit closer.

Another thought, the RSOC did a show at Bridge of Allan which was open to other clubs/makes. Pretty sure it was free entry too.

That's uncanny... ws just looking at RSOC events in Scotland. I did one years ago with the Sports Car Club at Strathy Park. Brilliant day, nae "You drive a Vauxhall / I drive a Ford' pish either. Just loads of proper, dirty finger nailed enthusiasts who appreciated all cars.
