Matt Gray, Carbon or wait to paint?

As some of you may know the drivers side of my Corsa is sporting a 'sand blasted' look after the stron wind we had a few months back. As the winter is just a round the corner and I need a little advice.

I have spoke to the council about a garage in my local area but as of yet the council are being their usual helpful selves! So my thoughts have been to wrap the car, the whole car. Spoke to my good friend who is an expert in this type of think and have spoke to him about a Matt gray wrap. I know it wont change the look of my car a lot as its already gray but it will be a little different and will also pretect the car from the winter roads as I use the car as a daily runner.

When I spoke with him he asked my why matt gray and not Carbon? Told him that I wasn't wanting the car to look to different and just to pretect the car for winter. He did however tell me that the matt wraps are a little on the thin side and will show any inperfections on the car, and that the glue that is on the wrap is a pain in the arse thus making the wrap a real bugger to apply. He then told me his thoughts on the crabon wrap. Is thicker so will hid the slight inperfections better and the glue on the back of the wrap is a lot better and makes it easier to apply.

Or do I just wait till I have enuff cash to get someone to hit the whole car with paint as I don't just want to paint one side and have it blended in.

Would really like to hear you thoughts and opionions on this.

    Cheers Marc

Matt grey like you get on the new M3 could look okay, might look a bit odd on a standard car though.

I've seen a few Merc AMGs with it too which look very nice! Definitely DON'T do carbon though Marc!

    You know my thoughts...

Carbon will look pish. Matt grey is doable though I'm not sure what imperfections it'll show up? Surely it's not that thin plus the car doesn't really have any imperfections as such... the chips/sand blasting won't show through unless the vinyl is like, thinner than a Durex? As for painting, to be honest that would be my choice though if Fimmo is doing is for 20p and a packet of Monster Munch then really, you could get it done for the winter and have a rethink next year. Bearing in mind, vinyl wraps don't last forever... after a few months of the sun and rain and general wear and tear, they'll soon be fading, cracking and peeling. Just look at any auld van with signwriting!

So aye, matt grey if it's cheapy cheap cheap and then maybe see how you stand next year for giving it a full hit of paint.

    Sorted.

I think the matt grey will be cheap cheap to buy just not sure how easy it will be too apply but as fimmo is doing it for cheapy cheap I'm thinking it's going to be a good way to protect the paint for the winter. Just hope if I do that the end result will look good and not cheap and nasty.
