Well, I'm now north of the border but have limited tinternet access (currently in the local library, Mrs Reid really needs to get up to speed!) so if this, or anything else is happening then Lugy... gies a phone, but gimme some warning so I can avoid a monumental hangover and also find a car. Clio 1.4 FTW!

Assuming someone has a decent cameraHow about a pub meet somewhere within a resonable proximity to Edinburgh or near buses/trains/rickshaws, say late afternoon, get some munchies, have a blether and a wee look at cars and those of us of the alcoholic persuasion have have a few ciders/Peronis then head out up town afterwards?
I'd be up for meeting somewhere for dinner... the The Hawes is pretty decent at South Queensferry (by the way, blonde waitress...!) or the Brewers Fayre place up by McDonalds... or.... McDonalds? As for alcohol, if I can nominate a designated driver then aye but it's unlikely I'll be heading directly into the big city.
Alternatively could head into Edinburgh on the train later at night but would be getting the last one home again about 11ish.
