Help request from Aberdionians. Overheating XE

Hi guys, lets start with the obvious, my XE is overheating whilst idling, dunno what's the problem, I think the thermostat is dead, and probably I have airlock as well.

The thing is, I need is new thermostat and coolant, both from Vauxhall.

So who might help me out with that?

I do have some basic tools, but anyway, some help would be helpful

    Cheers guys

Ok, here goes the story: I had a call-out for tomorrow morning in Edinurgh, so had to drive back, decided to keep the heater to Hot whilst driving, and fan switched on, whilst on the motorway the car was fine, then entering Dundee, it was still fine, just after crossing the Tay Bridge the temperature went up almost to red line, made a stop on a car park, opened the bonnet, and what can u expect? the radiator fan wasn't working. Ok, half of the problem. took the connector off and connected it manually with piece of wire (so it's always on when the ignition is on)
    Ok, sorted? you wish!
temperature went down, but went up to 100 again. the heater is blowing hot air, so it's less obvious now, what is it. Air lock? but why the heater is fine then? thermostat? well, I'll check that tomorrow...

It doesnt sound like its airlocked. Does it hold coolant fine? The wifes 106 gti was doing this the other day, changed the coolant and it returned to normal operating temperature.

Whip of one of the pipes to your radiator, blast it through with a hose to clean out any gunk/crap in the system and fill with new coolant. Iirc thare are no bleed nipples on any of the pipes so you will have to bleed it through your header tank? I done exactly that with the girlfriends corsa sport and it worked a treat.
