Re: The next east-central meet, 6th march?

My idea was through to Callander, over the Dukes pass to Aberboyle, round Loch Lomond to Tarbert and along to Lochgilphead and up to Oban for some munchies, back via Tyndrum and Creiff.

6 hours driving according to Mr Google. Wasn't a MIG crew driving option though lmao

Re: The next east-central meet, 6th march?

Well it was a nice day, after waiting for a few last minute stragglers at stirling the roads were quite busy

Dukes pass was a cool road, but full of tourists/busses/ and snow/ice, def a road for better weather

Heres a few pics i took at luss (take the high road country;P) before we all went home (gordon left before this):

Then after tyndrum the roads were like this:

Typical!! as the rest of the morning the traffic was heavy

Couldnt resist a few pics here (the vans filthy, but what do you expect after nearly 400 miles that weekend lmao

Re: The next east-central meet, 6th march?

Suppose I better add my report !!! lmao

    Go Drive !

That time again, another month another opportunity to let loose on the tarmac ! Scottish region MIGWeb members provided the contenders to slug it out on the West side of central... Persistently present was routefinder Lugy (just aswell really as I never know where I'm going !), Me in the Coo, Gary in his van, Micky in his saloon and Gordon in his coupe.

NO missing volvo, NOT potoshopped !!!

Met up at stirling services, my car desperately needing a quick jetwash, although being short of time I did'nt bother...cue waiting a few hours for the delayed but worthy arrival of Gary with his immaculately turned out towing cover ! Followed after a few calls by meaty veesix Micky sounding awesome and Gordon in his turbo coop.

Major point to note was that this was the first MIGWeb run that Lugy was actually driving a vauxhall !!! Allbeit his but not paid for !
I hasten to add he certainly seemed to be enjoying the experience, and although maybe not as fast as the Merc (rip), he certainly gave it enough welly to keep us chasing.

From Stirling services, we headed off to Callendar to the end of the Duke's Pass, a road section of considerable high reputation from bikers and driving enthusiasts all over. We were met by snow drifts and iced roads, which although lovely and pretty, did nothing for the way to attack the road.

I've been on the pass once before and found it to be short, but sweet and totally engaging. Oh, and I went the other direction last time.
Now, half way round the Duke's Pass is The Queen Elizabeth Forest Drive......which we unfortunately could not approach due to a bus that was stuck up the route....like Kielder before, we've been thwarted again....we will try again !

After that small disappointment, we ventured on south heading towards Loch Lomond....however, we missed a turning and kept going South instead of West and headed into the nightmare of suburbia. Not good for drivers. Whilst heading back out of the city boundary we lost Gordon to family commitments. Kept heading west along the busy and boring A82 and made it to Luss on the west banks of Loch Lomond. Now Luss, we were reliably informed by our guide, Gary, was where they filmed the long lost soap that was Take The High Road.....a busy little tourist place with the local shop selling reasonably priced, tasty burgers....unless your Lugy and have language problems...

....and thats where it ended....Gary left as it was closer to home, and Micky went on his way burbling with the V6.

Lugy and I took the opportunity to go east as soon as we could to avoid the weedge...and headed back towards Stirling through the back roads...All went smooth and without worry and we left each other on the M9.

The barge is more broked than the volvo. He now has keith's coupe that he will eventually pay for
Comparing tractor sizes and comparing c0ck sizes are very much the same.... only it means so much more!!!!!!

I feel dirty. That's one of only two jaunts that I've missed... and this time I couldn't blame alcohol, but could blame the British Isles for being inconveniently large. Or the bloody Roman for being too damn inconsiderate to build Bath a bit further north.

Duke's Pass is a great stretch of road, just a shame it wasn't 25 miles longer...
