| Re: Dexys crail pics, some taken by others Sadly, no, I didn't make it.
I picked the car up from Andy Gallacher's after work on Friday. Did a couple of wee jobs, took it a run, after 30 miles, battery was flat, by the time I got it home it was getting on for 12 on friday night.
Saturday, set about it and got a wealth of work done. The main problem though took me long into the night, the battery wasn't being charged and it was to do with the clocks. Made a total school boy error in assuming it was the wiring rather than the clocks themselves. Got it bodged to run without the clocks, took it out a run at 11:30pm on saturday night and after 15 miles, the exhaust was scraping the ground?
AG had used a plastic cable tie to secure my straight through exhaust which of course, melted it. So back to the garage to sort that, no biggie.. as I was about to put it on the ramps, steam and hissing from the engine bay, it had blown a water pipe. By this time it was after 12pm, the engine was too hot to work on and it had done all of 50miles since its rebuild. I gave in knowing that further problems would be inevitable if I tried to make Crail.
Got up at 2pm on Sunday. First long lie i've had in ages. And went down to the garage
The clock issue turned out to be the car had used them as a fuse and blown some of the elements on the back. Some solder later, they are all working.
The water pipe was replaced, the exhaust fixed back in place, went a run and then this happened;
