heres the post i put on vvoc just there Quote:
woke upthis morning, looked out the window to see a dry day, much to my surprise so i thought id get stuck in and do a few jobs.
started with my new boot badges cause they were easiest,
then jacked up the car, took the wheels off, then the bumper, then started on fitting my 308mm brakes. got both calipers off easy then turned my attention to the discs.
the tit that put them on has re used the old disc screw. now this wouldnt be too much of a problem if they were in good shape. they aint. they obviously rounded off when they were taken off last time (theres a hole where a centre dab has been used to take them off) and instead of getting a couple of new ones the retard put them back in
so i then tried a multitude of allen keys, torx bits, spline keys with no luck, then i drilled them and tried a screw extractor. SNAP! have you ever tried drilling through a hardened screw? it doesnt really happen. so back to the other side and i try drilling the screw then tapping another torx bit into it. SNAP again! so now i have both screws with some hardened steel in them
so the moral of the story is, if a screw is worn DONT re use it. in this case id have much rather they didnt put the screw in at all.
anyone want to come and help?
and any suggestions?

| woohoo! get it sorted. thanks to kylie (aka girl_racer of vvoc)
what i did was put the caliper bolts back in and tighten them. because the caliper isnt there they contact the disc. keep tightening and they push the disc of the hub passed the screw. then once the disc is off the hub, use vice grips to get the screw out
got fibreglass fingers tho now and the rain has started |

I like as it's not a body shape you see everyday. Might look better slammed on it's arse with some nice wheels.
But at the higher end of the spectrum. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1978-LWB-VAUXH...QQcmdZViewItem
It's just begging for a XE, just a shame about the price. |

I think i've found me an Astra Sport. Gonna look at it on Friday .
Get a pic up when you got the HID's in Melv . |
