| Meet report 27/03/05 Seeing as hes gagged, heres Robs meet report. Quote:
It wasn’t long in coming round again but our fortnightly MIG meet had snuck up on me, So it was a quick trip to the jet wash as per usual to try and hide the fact I’d been changing engines (yet again).
Unusually I was traveling to the meet on my own no convoy or people to pick up and I arrived just before 8pm. Alistair was already there as was Craig and Aragorn. But we had an interloper amongst us who was quickly introduced to us as Twig, Alistair’s Dad. Now most people think old and sensible in regards to Dads but not so much Alistair’s who turned up with a Vectra SRI 150 and plans a plenty for Throttle bodies and cams to his steed.
Shortly after our arrival Gary (a.k.a. Cathcart Cav arrived with his Cavvy with a topical colour coded dash (am I the only person that liked it. Quite a tidy car I must add with some stunning rims. After venturing into our usual haunt and being told we couldn’t get in (bar flooded) we mustered in the car park until the Knockhill hordes arrived. First to be spotted or rather heard was Dwarf and WeeKenny there’s no mistaking the bark of throttle bodies. Closely followed by Dave with the V6 astra. Low and behold we had a good turnout.
After a quick debate we decided to hit Kincardine to find a pub to a) get some beverages and b) so we could thaw out. So we set off in true Mig convoy style over the Kincardine Bridge and then down into the Town centre. I’m happy to report that all members made the 3-mile trip without incident accident or breakdown. I must also apologize to any one on the forum who is from Kincardine (sorry if we woke you up) as in addition to my loud exhaust (yes the manifolds cracked) there was a bark of Throttle bodies disturbing the yokels.
After realizing we had all made it over the bridge in once piece and only loosing 1 member on route (we did find him again) we hit the pub where the massed XE boys tried to convince me that I should follow the generic Mig solution to my power plant troubles. Yes you guessed it a throttle-bodied redtop. After the Track day warriors departed we ventured outside to laugh at my mongrel Cav power plant, rebored 2 litre on SPI you just cant beat it. After enduring the ridicule of Mig for having a bonnet you cant open unless the wipers are turned on first. We retreated back to the pub for another round before we headed home. Where fragpot and a random pug owner friend joined us. After saying our goodbyes to the nova brigade at the M9 spur myself and Alistair’s dad engaged in a bit of sport along the m876 until the diversion signs appeared which we duly followed and ended back at Kincardine, unperturbed we headed off again and headed up towards Stirling to make out way home.
Just a few notes guys
Craig I WILL remember your brakes next meet but please txt me the Saturday morning before to remind me.
Alistair I plan on having yet another engine fitted before the next meet just to annoy you even more. And yes the SPI might just disappear on this one.
Kenny and Dwarf the locals say they will have your heads on pikes if you ever show face in Kincardine again the bill for all the windows is in the post.
Aragorn, take that baby valver out the nova its too bloody quick. Admittedly I’ve got a cracked manifold but even so no saloon should be that fast, then again some bodies and some tweaks to that and it will be quite something.
Gary good to see you mate don’t change the dash m8 its actually quite nice (maybe different in daylight though.

the 'knockhill lot' were kinda clique(sp?) if i may say, keeping themselves to themselves(apart from the loving insult from kenny ), but id imagine if we got some nice weather to mince about the cars everyone would mix together better....

| Once I get the engine in the Astra I will head through. Sounds like a good turnout! Possibly meet Cathcart Cav on the way through.

| Cathcart Cav - Cavvy SRi 8v engine, Im from Glenrothes. Not far away from you.
GlasgowRob & Fragpot - Im sure I will be annoying you with questions very soon cos knowing my luck with cars it is gonna take a while!! Glad to hear you aint afraid of gettin your hands dirty either! lol
Was gonna go for the Red Top but just dont have money to spare at the moment, The 8v SRi came up at a price that I couldnt go wrong. Has a pile of receipts up to my ar$e. Wont be as quick as a red top but it will be a hell of a lot quicker than my current Astra! lol Had a go in the Cav before taking it off the road, wasn/t bad at all.

Not to tell Rob how to run things but previous co-ords have made sure everyone was introduced to try and prevent the formation of 'groups'.

| I never seen anyone rushing over from the "new gang" to say how you doing? or I'm such and such.
I mean in fairness you've been going to these new meets for over a month and know each other. |

| I left quickly because I had a several-hour return journey ahead of me. Having meets at night undeniably excludes anyone who lives more than half an hours drive away. I said right at the start that meets need to be held during the day so people can justify travelling so far to attend.
As for the location, if you think I am sitting in that dingy pub, drinking flat coke, with my car parked so far out of sight, being surveiled by the local neds, you are sadly mistaken.
Also, its not particularly welcoming to be completely blanked by those organising the event. |

| Lot of hostility here, did I miss a fight or something? TBH the fact that the original venu was closed probably threw things a bit. The travel inn place is a lot better than that pub for meets I think, plenty of room etc so no1 is really at a table on their own. Also the travel inn car park is bigger than parking in kincardine town center. Although I do quite like that pub, would be good for going out on the piss.
I agree on having meets during the day, lets you look at the cars and stuff without freezing your nuts off, and I hate being in a pub with my car. |

| the pub at kincardine travel inn is lighter and more roomy when its empty!! The car park is well lit etc. I dont know about anyone else, but the evening meets have been good so far. We do however need some daytime mets in the near future! This appears to be happening tho, bbq, rolling road etc. |

| When i first arrived i did introduce my self. Anyway were never going to have a good meet if we all keep bitchin. I left early for the fact of not really knowing you guys yet. the pub we was at i found too small to really sit in a big group and have a laugh. I found all that i spoke to friendly. Just too small a pub. I hated my car sitting there! i sent my mate up at one point to check my car over. i was all tense bout some c*nt attacking it. Its really all i have. Looking forward to the next meet n have a bit of a laugh withsome of yous. Is it still at 8? Wot is the date?
Madhaggis - If you wanna meet up with me first thats totaly fine m8. am up for it. |

We should maybe all head up to Crail one day? As long as it isnt a magazine day, way too busy. Mind you the scantily clad women make up for it
There is that other one at Edzell now, not overly sure where that is. Might be more of a central meeting point.
