The end

I have resigned as Scottish region co-ordinator.
The reasons are many and varied, and Im not going to explain myself here.

Any queries about Scottish events should be directed towards WeeKenny.

Re: The end

Despite posting meet details here well in advance, it was only every myself, Kenny and a couple of other regulars who made the effort to turn up. As Kenny said last night, its less hassle for the four/five of us to just phone each other and go to an event rather than mess about trying to persuade people to come along.

We would post up about a meet, get a load of replies saying "great, Ill be there" then a few days later get some replies "actually I cant make it, cars in bodyshop/cant get time off/washing my hair" then on the day, no-one would actually turn up.

Then a few days later someone would post up "why are there no fooking meets in scotland???"

Kinda disheartening, and frankly irritating. It also made it a pain in the arse to arrange anything involving paying for places in advance as it was never clear exactly how many people would back out and how many might actually turn up.

Re: The end

The problem is lack of commitment from members, I dare not even count the miles I do to various car clubs events, but then again I dont care cars are my hobby and I'm willing to travel to meet like minded individuals

Re: The end

Im willing to bet that at the start of the year there was 20-30 paid members, the meets were organised and no one turned up ( i know I was guilty of it a few times due to being on call from work).

Its not a case of not enough people, its making a commitment to be somewhere and then sticking to it.

Re: The end

Dave, sorry to hear that mate, only just seen the post as my computer has been down for the last month, and I have only had intermittent internet access at work. Also haven't downloaded MSN yet. Hope to speak to you soon however. For my twopence worth, I have enjoyed all the mig meets I have been to, but the attendance has been disappointing especially from the coordinators point of view. It might just be a case of members posting on this forum when they plan to go to certain places, and seeing who turns up, as it is disheartening for people who organise a meet and only 2 or 3 other folk turn up, as has happened a couple of times.

Re: The end

just when i start driving aswell

im gonna ask for some flyers when i order my stickers, and plant them on all the vauxs in town

also, meets in scotland ive been to a few corsa-sport meets at falkirk wheel and a good lot of cars turn up, 15-20 the both times i went, so maybe organising some cross-club meets?

the last corsa-sport meet i went to there was about 15corsa guys, and the manta owners club turned up aswell, that was another 5cars,

so maybe if we opened our meets up to other clubs aswell, could lead to a better variety and an increase in attendance..
