I'm in other clubs and I think a RR day would have to be a shared one with another club. |

| Re: rolling road day? Given that the last load of meets have attracted a maximum of I think 5 cars, and often as low as 3 cars, to be honest, MIG would be a laughing-stock.
It doesnt give a very good impression of our club if all we can muster from the whole Scottish region is 4 or 5 cars, 2 of which belong to the co-ordinators.
This is the reason I havent pushed hard for a club stand at any events we have gone to, like Crail, because it would look pathetic. I could list several other car clubs that regularly have stands there with well over a dozen, sometimes over 20 cars, then tucked away in the corner would be MIG, with spaces for 6 cars, 4 of which might actually turn up.
As for a rolling road session, Star Performance like around 12 cars to run. 10 minimum to make it worth their while.
Sharing with another club could work, purely to fill up numbers but wouldnt alter the costs any. |

| Re: rolling road day? Its not a case of promoting the club more, there is no way to do that, unless you want to wear a MIG sandwich-board and walk up and down Union Street.
The problem is getting people who already use the forums to come to the meets.
If we can get enough of a presence to have a worth-while stand at events, we can have flyers and maybe stuff like a MIG banner to put up, which WILL generate more interest, but if we cant put up enough of a show to do that, nothing will happen.
Take a look at ClubCalibra - a smaller on-line club than MIG, yet at the last few Knockhill and Crail events they have attended, they have had a line-up of nearly a dozen cars. They hand out flyers and often get people joining up there and then at events.
More ClubCalibra Scottish members made the drive down to Doncaster this year than MIG Scotland has ever had at any show, anywhere.
If our existing members and forum users dont turn up, what can we do? |

You didn't show up but think that there has to be more meets. I think I have seen you at one meet and that was an rr day too.
How about making more of an effort getting to meets then Dave and Kenny can organise events which need large numbers.
I work every weekend and have done for over 4 years but i still make an effort.
Not a dig just an observation

| Re: rolling road day? who said i was having a dig at dave/kenny? havent been to a meet to complain/comment
was mearly questioning how to get more people along (which is surely for the good of everyone?)
my effort shouldnt really be questioned though. not everyone can drive 6hour round trips to attend a meet. yes im in a car club but travelling the length and breadth of the country to attend meets is too much. just cos youve been to a meet are you allowed to tell others theyre not trying hard enough?
thanks for other comments in thread though |

| Re: rolling road day? We're looking at several options to increase numbers, the overnight stay cut the traveling each day in half and still only the usual suspects turned up.
Last year I travelled to all the big events down south, its all part of the fun
Would you travel to AVA for a RR Day? |

| Re: rolling road day? The thing is, we live in the the remotest part of mainland UK really. Scotland has such a low population density (no, im not talking about iq`s ) that everyone will have to travel to attend a meet, thats why we have meets at Crail, Knockhill and Stirling. These are centrally located venues that are a fair distance for everyone to travel to.
The last nights out we have had have all been in Stirling. The only people who attended for the weekend were myself, Kenny, Ally and AJBeck. The three of them are from the Glasgow area, so in theory we should have the meets near Glasgow as thats closest to the majority of attendees, but we didnt, we are all willing to travel the same distance as anyone else to make things fairer. |

| Re: rolling road day? you know how it goes people say they will be there and then never turn up. the besy way to combat this would be to take a deposit from each person who wants to run and then they settle the remaining balance when they get there. a wee incentive for folk to turn up.
