| Ј6000...
so far this 'little' project has set me back about Ј3000 and that is from buying the car upto getting the sandpaper for painting. Next big cost is going to be the ECU (quoted Ј750) its took me a few weeks looking for good bargin parts but it has paid off in the end, also doing a lot of work myself has made it much cheaper. |

| evening gang
im sorting out the last bits of the underside of the car and paint work so the shell is about 90% finished and the engine is about 60% done now (pics to be done this weekend with new camera) im at the moment sorting out what i need for the suspention and what size wheels i can get away with, with a quick look i should be able to get some decent size wheels under the rear.
now comes the question part, if im going to use adjustable spring and shock set (e.g. konis) can i get rid the the nobbly bits that hold the original springs (pic below) thus helping me lower the car a bit more.? |

| if you intend to put springs back in there then youll need to keep the cups. if you are gony use coilovers that just bolt to the shcoker location then you can ditch the cups.

| Rigggggghhht, a bit of an update on the old brum-brum.
Bodywork on the car is about 80% done and at the moment im fitting the rear GSi bumper i have got to the car, and then it should be ready for the final spray job (should be over the xmas week i have off).
In the mean time i have been working on the engine and other bits and bobs..the boot and were the rear seat were has now been covered with a large metal checker sheet which is were the fuel tank and NoS tanks will sit..(pics to follow)...but today i was fitting the turbo pistons to the conrods. I had a slight problem were the top of the conrod has quite large 'shoulders' and when fitted in to the piston it fouled the base and would only let it move side-to-side about 1/4 inch, so i had to grind down the shoulders by about a millimeter...(easy)
The pins fitted perfect and in about 3 hours i had done all 6 pistons and rods.
now all i have to do is order the new shells, ARP bolts and turbo piston rings and job done... |

| Right, been a busy week, had a few words with people on here and a couple of engineers and i feel that a soon as i run the v6 with the 4 x 4 set up it will shread the box and trasfer box...so...im picking up a 3ltr v6 omega manual box next week to turn the astra in to a RWD and not a 4x4 drive, which means that with the engine turned around in the engine bay i can't turbo it by using both banks feeding into one turbo..shame...but it means that i can now TWIN turbo it... which will be a whole lot easyer for me, now i have the T3 garrett and are at the moment looking for another on (from a metro turbo) or should i run a smaller turbo on one side feeding into the T3 to aid spooling?
Also i have found a company on my doorstep that sell poly foam for bodywork creating, so wit the rear wheel drive and larger back wheels i could finish off with the mattig look..... |

| cool cool.
As for the turbo.... if its off a Metro... which was 1.3 and your putting it on a 3.0.... then it would probably work better with 2 as its then two 1.5 engines in effect. if you follow my logic.... probably wrong but hey!
You could always follow the original plan..... cut a hole in the bulkhead and have the turbo where the dash should be! wouldnt need a fag lighter then eh?
