    leigh-rigby's mk3 astra project

A quick hello from myself ive just joined up here to share my little car.
I have recently bought it and plan to a fair bit of work to it over the winter which includes a decent brake upgrade . a new manifold with a smaller turbo, try and source a mk3 gsi interior and so on ..
i will be reaching out to you all for help and information..
    a brief spec .
saab b204 freshly rebuilt by flintshire performance engines.
    arp rod bolts
    arp head bolts
    cometic head gasket
    uprated rods
mild head porting and a polish
    volvo valve springs
    siemans 875cc injectors
    3 bar map sensor
    sas auto customs manifold
    large front mount intercooler
    gt3076r turbo
    turbo smart extrernal wastegate
    full 3" exhaust
    f28 gearbox
    sachs clutch
custom map using t7apc and 2.1 bar of boost

ive been doing a few bits on bobs on it so will try and post them up now with pics.

    how i bought it

then the same day the external wastegate port cracked so removed it and welded (bodged) it up

its still had a small blow but as better.I had planned to have a new manfifold when i bought it anyway just didnt want it fallen of on the first day.

    re: leigh-rigby's mk3 astra project

    now the jobs start ..
    bought new lower arms
    new drop links
    ball joints
    track rods
    wheel bearings
bought a new indicator stalk and fitted it .
ordered a new gm washer bottle pump.
ordered a second silencer to try and help with the noise.
bought a new sas autos manifold
booked car in for new down pipe to be made on friday.
also had a second silencer fitted while down pipe was done.

had major issue with boost pipes blowing off all the time so needed to sort that out

then maybe time to enjoy it for a week...

Then I have to sort brakes out as there isn't any
Then change the turbo and remap.
    Then do a epas mod.
Then detail interior and engine bay.
Then a bit of paint then hopefully it will be ready for a couple of shows if I hadn't burnt it already

so i then bought a new manifold from tim hicks @sas auto customs
also bought all new manifold studs and locking nuts and gaskets

while it was in the unit i purchased a mk3 sport rear seat so i could retrim the mk4 gsi bench onto a mk3 frame.

then decided i didnt like the vec alloys and changed them again

    re: leigh-rigby's mk3 astra project

Had a week of now due to the mrs winging . it was xmas after all i suppose and i did have 12 days of work.
While i was at home lurging about on ebay and forums and car related pages i found myself a genuine garrett gt3071r turbo
and was only a 1000 miles old and came from a friend of a friend.. money was exchanged and i got this in return..

so new years day this happend

and thats where i am up to at the minute.

im re doing all my boost pipes and intake pipes and also changing the route.
most of the parts have been ordered and progress will be made soon i hope.
I have only done 200 mile in the car and so far all i seem to do is spend money and time so hopefully will get it finished
in time for a few shows..

Love that colour, must be alot of power on tap with that turbo set up...

I dare any of you to tell me you wouldn't let this upstanding young citizen slob on your knob like corn on the cob.

By the look of it someone put a lot of good work into that car before you got it. Nice project.

Interesting wall decoration in that garage as well as a valuable Sierra.

Is this the one that was featured in Total Vauxhall. Love the colour and look of it. Mk4 GSi interior and dials are nice subtle touches

I really love this car. This car pretty much decided that saab mk3 is the way I'm going when my current project sells.

thanks mark. yeah there a good car when done correctly. and dont do what most do and get carried away chasing big power (like me) a good saab swap with a genuine gt28r will be a very fast car 350 ish bhp easy..

little bit more of a update.. and a few more pics.. im waiting for a longer oil cooler hose to be done due to relocation but pretty mush everything under the bonnet is done now. also got both front fog lights back in due to re routing the intercooler piping.
got my toyo r888 tyres fitted to try them out for when the weather gets better.
And bought a set of ap racing 4 pot brake kit for it. 330mm x28mm cant wait to get them fitted.
