    Project pikey racing

Well as Rich & myself have cars that eventually will be decent but are not ready yet. We decided to build ourselves something cheap and cheerfull that can be raped violently at trackdays without too many issues.

As we both know our way around a corsa b that seemed like the perfect choice to avoid to many issues (well we hoped)

the beginning idea was also that we would take this to germany for a nurburgring trip as neither of us have done that as yet.... no plans for this but this is still our intention.

    Anyway onto the car

    this is what we purchased..

this is worth at least a handjob

we could not handle this power so we are planning on down grading

Within 1 1/2 hours this happened and a picture message sent to the previous owner showing what had happen to his car msl:

This should not be used for any new adverts at PV James Middleton

one second earlier and dewis was doing is famous pose

    Re: Project pikey racing

Then we pretty much got onto adding all the track related parts

    Spax suspension

    Little service

then onto replacing and putting back together the badassness

    suspension being fitted

new dash loom to be fitted as the engine loom had been wiried up different to either of us has seen before and my car neeeded a new dash/car loom so i had the origional and this car had the one that came with the engine

then onto getting the engine together, used my old gearbox which was minus the clutching arm and release bearing... we did not have the correct parts to hand but fitted the engine and box anyway as dewis said he could refit later on

Bearing was royaly ****ed so on with a new one

New ****ty exhaust gasket i found in my shed

Video of first start up.... minus the manifold - FLAMES ANYONE??

    Re: Project pikey racing

New botom Ball Joints all fitted

    amazing brakes????

    Well at least decent pads

Thanks to Ash for the spigot rings he made

Got Rob to skim them on the lathe cause I was busy

All fitted and ready - bleeding was needed.... badly msl:

the rears gave a bit of a fight, especially when the bleed nipple broke and we needed a new rear cylinder

    Cooling for extra coolness

one cool as **** wrapped standard manifold

    one £68.99 exhuast

one shiney exhuast manifold... with a now dirty wrapped manifold

    Read to rock

    and roll

    See you at Coombe

Very good. Look forward to seeing what its like in the rain. Where will it be parked and what sessions is it on?

Not sure on the manifold. Looks cool but i have seen one catch fire on an XE wrapped that far down. And it was a nightmare to extinguish.

I would personally peel it back to "just before the oil leak"

It is tempting, though getting an Omega and going Trampdrifting is also very tempting.

    Re: Project pikey racing

Neither is looking very likely this year due to my new job mate.
Wanted to make it to Coobe in the Saab but selling up so I can put the money into that old Astra I've had for a few years
Reckon I'll only be getting to Billing unless my shifts change.

    Re: Project pikey racing

Cheers guys! Has been a good laugh building it, and although I've got a big power turbo Corsa I do have a big soft spot for a xe Corsa as they are just so cheap and cheerful.

Your probably right Craig, didn't really think at the time just got carried away wrapping, tbh we're on the look out for a cheap 2 1/4" manifold so next time I'll stop before the leaks

Project pikey racing strikes again msl:

Got given a tigra from one of my old bosses, so thought it would be rude not to relieve it of its 15" alloys, have manage to get some part worn uniroyal rainsport 2's for £10 a corner so will whip the tyres off these an get the new wet tyres fitted so if it pisses down at combe we have a back up plan

    Re: Project pikey racing

Yeah it was an old friend off here. The wrap set light on the rollers where oil had saturated it. And that stuffs like a candle wick so never goes out. We had to cut it off above the smouldering end and through that bit out before it set something else alight.

Tyre wise, My back up plan is T1R's on steels for if there is standing water, But Dunlop Direzzas on the OZ's for any dry / damp sessions.

    Re: Project pikey racing

    Final update before Coombe

Rear brakes were dragging so gave them a clean and free'd everything off

Was too oily to get any other pics :-)

Then the temp gauge was not working so changed the sendor and it was jobs a gooden :-)

This had potential to fail to sorted out a temp fix

Then onto the bit I'm most pleased about :-)

Bit of a spray job on the wheels

    Prepped

    Primered

    Sprayed

    Comparison

    Finished

Also picked this rental up :-) £40

    Test load
