    My Mk1 1.3 Sr Nova

Hi everyone, had my w.i.p threads on other forums so i thaught id stick it up here for you all to see

il have the car at billing for my first time in july, so im looking forward to it

    thanks for looking

i hadnt planned on bying another nova but this came up and couldnt turn it down due to how rare these are getting....
although once i have it on the road i will probably advertise it to let someone else enjoy it as my mk2 nova will hopefully be on the road for next summer so ive no need for 2
    plans are:
    mot & tax
    new headlights
engine service / filters / plugs
restonechip & reseal & paint inner arches
clean an paint rear axle, petrol tank
    new brakelines throughout
fit a set sr alloys & new tyres
wheels shown (cesaros) forsale with good tyres if anyones intrested to give me a shout
    when i got it:

i then sorted the rear arches, drums and shocks and gave them all a clean and some fresh paint, quite happy with them

set of brand new headlights as the current ones were faded and dull

next up i gave the bootfloor a frshen up, stripped the seams back and primd and re-sealed all the seams in the boot and gave the whole floor and well a fresh layer of polar white, quite happy with how it turned out...

and a rear end shot showing the back built up

and a quick photo of the engine bay, some previous owner felt the need to touch in the crossmember with a brush and paint so i plan on repainting it when i get a free evening an back to how it should be, thankfully the battry tray and engine seams are all solid

and next up was the front arches, they got a clean, stripped back to metal, re-sealed, primed, stonechipped and painted. the struts etc also got a lick of black to help the look of things, should look better when the new trackrod ends are fitted etc

gave the inside a quick clean aswel with the dust etc that had gathered, interiro is in very good condition with no rips, stains etc and the drivers seat and no damage to the bolster whch s common. on the look out for the standard phillips radio if anyone knows of any forsale etc

    and its first wash

and the reg (one of my fvourite bits about the car)
some new bumpr tape needed though

    the nova and the golf

    next up:
    new brakelines throughout
needs a good polish and wax
sort out tyres for the sr wheels
    source and fit radio
    MOT and drive
    c&c welcome

Re: My Mk1 1.3 Sr Nova

ok so ive been doing little bits to this over the holidays to get it ready for the road

fitted these very clean rear arch carpets to tidy the bootfloor up a little and to protect the paintwork within the boot, and can be easily removed to leave it back to standard, i personally think they look alot better also, photos below show one side with and the other without the carpet

    and both

next up i plan on shampoo'ing and giving the interiro a full valet especially the boot to remove stains from use over the years shown in the photos

had a day off work so i polished and gave it a couple of coats of wax, really needs a full detail which i plan on booking it in for in the near future

cleaned the cesaros also, came up well

also picked up another set of sr wheels with all centre caps whihc i plan on hopefully getting refurbed and new tyres on asap, before mot hopefully in a few weeks

    cheers

Re: My Mk1 1.3 Sr Nova

ok so after i sourced my sr wheels i wanted to get them refurbed so after hours of sanding and prepping my cousin had them in primer

took a gamble on a silver but it has dried too dark and doesnt look factory so im going to have the paint mixed and repaint them tonight after work and then worry about tyres

mot is the end of next week, then hopefully it will be on the road for a short while before winter kicks in

Re: My Mk1 1.3 Sr Nova

ok so mot at the start fof the week in ballamena, please pass

getting a few bits tidied and ready

cleaned the rear drums and shoes, free'd them up a little, new shoes to be fitted after mot, these ones should do the trick until then

and my sr wheels finally painted and ready for tyres this weekend

    quite happy with them

ok so sr wheels are now painted, with some brand new rubber

car feels 100 times better to drive with these smaller wheels and the new brakes, great fun to drive

    some better photos coming soon

Re: My Mk1 1.3 Sr Nova

    self explanitory really

having some craic driving it daily now, definately a step back in comfort, mpg & general luxury to my golf but for the craic you couldnt beat it, well maybe a redtop but awel, lol

also got new oil&air filters and a oil change and is running well, noticed its quite sore on the juice so going to have to have the carb looked at shortly

have mudflaps and a few other wee things there for it but haven't got around to fitting them yet

as i said, photo shoot coming soon

    thanks for looking

Re: My Mk1 1.3 Sr Nova

so over the holidays i stripped the front down to clean behind the bumper, grill and headlights etc

    headlights back in

    grill back on

front bumper freshly treated and looking brand new

    getting there

and some cappy iphone photos after a wash from being in the shed

have to admit the photos make the cars paint look fresh and bright although in reality its got quite dull and lost its shine with a few scapes, chips etc so once the better weather comes in i plan on trying to save the paintwork as best i can

    next up

strip the inner arches and treat them with a fresh layer of black stonechip and shutz as i dont like the white inner arches, just not factory enough i think

    fit mudflaps

    replace the red bumper stripe

im hopefully going to drive the car over to billing in july for a little roadtrip so hopefully il have the car in a presentable show state for that, for those who dont know what billing is, heres a link to some photos from last years show
