grrrrr brake fittings are stil not here!! rang up earlier and had a moan and they say il have them for tomorrow so fingers crossed i can still get out in it tomoz!!
anyway, i insured it today, have printed off documents and will be getting tax in the morningthen i had a call from sbd to say my alt bracket was done so took a trip down there after work..
always get tempted by things in that bloody place lol...
alt bracket...its longer bodied than there usual kit as it was on its maximum setting to even get close to tightening the belt..
new beru custom length leads..
itg sausage filter and backing plate..
fingers crossed i get the fitting in the morn then il be straight up the garage, fit em, bleed em, cut the backing plate out, wack the filter on and go testing...thats the plan anyway![]()
Oh and on route to the garage I'm picking up my f/g boot lid and bonnet from the painters![]()
wooop the fittings came this morning..
got tax..
got to the painters and bonnett wasnt done and boot hadnt had the previous holes repaired, ****ing retard my painter is at times!! had to get it back tho as a. its booked into longlife wednesday morning for the exhaust and b. i kinda need to road test it and to do so i kinda need a bootlid lol..no pics of boot as i jus wrapped it up and put it in the van and battery died within an hour of being at the garage, did manage to do this first thing tho..
dash adjuster for pedal box, used my old one in the end with the cable from the new one..
then my batt died but managed to eventually get the brakes all bled up nicely with no line twists, fitted my new leads and put the bootlid and aerocatches back on, will have to use the metal bonnett for now..which meant i couldnt drive it on the roads properly as i didnt want to risk scratching my wings or summin trying to do bonnet on my owndid have a little drive around the driveway where it is tho and all is gd
tomoz i will fit air filter and be with a mate so get it out on the streets!!
until tomorrow..
right then, got down to the car this morning, put the bonnet on, did a nut and bolt check, warmed her up and went for my first driveshe pulls so well, i really am chuffed!! sounds ****ing awesome also
![]()
however..the brakes are absolutely ****in terrible, i thought they might of needed a bit of bedding in seein as its all new but about 3 miles down the road they got worse, felt like something was locking up, holding it backwtf?! popped the bonnet to check resorvoirs and that, opened the lids on both, had a visual on all four corners and nothing, turned around and headed straight back to garage...they didnt seem as bad on my way back? anyway got it back, got her up in the air went to just re bleed them to see if it was air, all was gd, got a bit of air out then snapped the nipple on the n/s rear drum
the rears feel a bit stiff to turn the wheel whilst handbrake off, as though there sticking, took the drums apart and rebuilt and all was good, got her down on the ground, and still ****ing crap brakes!! I can get a decent pedal feel but **** stoppin power...going to try and remedy this by tuesday as wednesday its exhaust day, its not far from longlife so its driveable worste case but just no where near as good as they should be
. it was a second hand pedal box so am thinking maybe the cylinders are shagged??
anyway heres a few pics and a lil vid
bootlid painted and fitted...
the brake fittings i fitted..
any suggestions on the brakes would be great...
will update once exhaust done on wednesday![]()
what is wrong with the current exhaust?
looking very good this mate... keep up the goood work
Ahh the noise of tb's!!! bloody fantastic!!
so went down to sort the brakes this morning and ended up being a ****ed front master cylinder as suspected..
my fault really i shouldve checked both were ok before fitting seein as o bought the box second hand..oh well.
so shot to burton power and got a new one
fitted..
bled the brakes up and wahay i have brakes
then the painter rang and said the bonnett and strut brace were done..
The bonnett i got is quite a bad mould tbh, my pals done his best but its quite ripply but **** it its not a show car..
took it for a drive and all is sweet, tommorrow is exhaust day..cant wait!!![]()
mitch this car is so sweet i love it! cant wait too see it up close

Cheers for comments lads, makes it all worth while!!
Just had th exhaust done from longlife, awesome job I'm mega happy, sounds wicked!! Now I'm gonna go and kick its teeth in for a few hours lol will upload pics later...
so my plans to go an kick its teeth in were ruined as got called out for wrk and couldnt be bothered to go back to the car by the time id sat in traffic back from london..
few pics from today, no pics of the whole system as i completely forgot lol will get some tomoz, its obv jus 2.5" from mani back, with flexi join, centre box and back box with a 3" rolled out tail..well happy with it, looks good!
before..
type c in..
not much ground clearance with this manifold lol..
and finito
would recommend Dan Mathews at longlife in carshalton/wallington to anyone and everyone, his welding is awesome, hes a proper moody git but im well chuffed with the outcome![]()
right, well had the bitch mapped at track 'n' road on friday...the day didnt start too well, lol on the way down there i pulled over half way to have a visual under the bonnett to check everything was ok..which it wasnt, had a fuel leak pissing out from behind pressure guage, fixed that, luckily i had a bit of ptfe tape in my tool kit, it must of undone itself from vibrations or wateva..its ruined my engine bay and that now needs a repaintlucky it didnt go up in smoke i guess!! so i get to track n road and get it strapped up etc..do a compression test first thing to find cylinders 1 & 4 a bit low on compression 2&3 measuring 170 and 1&4 @ 150!! not good..however we stuck it on and got cracking with the map..
170.3bhp with 142.7 lb/ft which im not overly happy with tbh lol, so much for sbd's "196 kit"!! i mean i know there figures of 196bhp and 170 lb/ft are a bit optimistic but i was kinda expecting at least 180 horse!
although the compression was low on said cylinders, steve then went on to say that it was weird it read that as it seemed to be going strong, on unplugging injectors one by one the pitch of engine noise and revs dropped exactly the same amount across all 4 cylinders..wtf? anyway i will adress said issue after pv and throw some cams in (as i suspect thats whats holding back the power) and see how that gos..
heres a few pics and a couple of vids..
it does however drive much better and pulls very well..just expecting a boit more i guess...
and a couple of other bits iv done..
washer jet in scuttle..
air filter on, couldnt fit backing plate as its too close to resorvoirs for brakes, dunno whether to move reorvoirs or leave it the way it is..i cant see nothing getting in the trumpets as its all very tight fitting!!
will get some pics of damage to bay from leak tomoz..
Good to see its all mapped and up and running. A bit of a dissapointing figure, but it'l still be a lot of fun
Mine recently made 173hp / 151lbft on standard cams, so you might be right. Shame to have to take it apart. but if it turns out the head gasket or rings are at fault you might aswell take the oportunity to machine the pistons and drop some piper 285's in, Or something similar.
At least you can put some miles on it for now though, and get it to PV.
Yer that's it mate, as u say at least it's all up and running! And yes it is lots of fun to drive
I don't think it's head gasket or rings, I suspect it's head, valves/valve seats..got a Coscast head spare so gonna work on that whilst the cars drivable and swap heads over after pv, maybe before billing...if not after!! But yes if it does turn out to be rings, it'll be getting a full rebuild..
Looking forward to pv now though![]()
Would be intersting to line them up next to each other for a run or 2.
Like you say.... it runs and it's a laugh. See you at PV.
Yer mate I'm up for that, they're pretty evenly matched ay!!
You goin down Saturday and camping mate?
Not sure yet, was going to just drive up early sunday, As if i break the car saturday night it will ruin my weekend.
Could be tempted though. What are you doing?
I'm goin up sat lunch time with a few peeps, come down mate!!
Might do the same. I quite like to walk around at Pvs, so makes sense to get a load of runs in saturday night ey.
