looks great mate. I had a TB'd XE corsa a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Really regret selling it TBH. I do love my LET corsa as well though![]()
had a day off work today so thought id do a bit, picked up my bootlid from painters as he hadnt started it yet due to him being so busy, i was rushing things as well tbh as i hadnt even cut the aerocatches into yet...
so todays antics...
marked out where i wanted them,
stitch drilled 5mm from the edge, through both skins
then got the old power file out for smoooooooothness!!
marked and drilled the fixing holes for the catches..
the holes in the very bottom corners are from where previious owner had fixed them, these will be getting repaired before painting...
and finished article........
sorry for crap pics, off the phone...
wrong way round imo........

And what do you know?......
Only jokin, measured it and couldn't have the other way... I think it looks ool anyway!
**cool
You did countersing the rod caps for the ARP rod bolts?
Yes, and used proper arp lube, but tbh I don't think there's that much need to countersink them, it depends on wat bolt design it is arp do a few..I know people, who have run big power xe's without the need to countersink them...
if you look at the caps on the early cranks, at first it looks like u dont need to untill you have a close up look it doesnt seat properly!
INSTALLING SUMMER... ████████░░░░░░░░44% DONE. Installation failed.
404 error: Season not found.

Goin to look at a nice big unit later so hopefully lots more updates coming!!!

Vauxhall Astra Van 1.7DTii- T22 JFF
Cheers mate!!
made up some stoppers for the polycarbs, didnt like the fact you could slide them open from outside the car so did this....
closed the slider and put an r clip in the runner against the window, turned the window over and marked where the clip was
took the runner off the window and drilled through my mark
secured the runner back on the window and inserted an r clip....
did do this but scrapped the idea and just gonna have a clip...

little update..
wanted to get the fibreglass bootlid on, so as i could make and align brackets for aerocatches, was a bit of a pig as had to drill the spot welds out on the old bootlid hinges!! was a proper pain, but again flatout was around and we cracked on nice one again baz!! anyway some pics..
out with the old....
took water rails off whilst i wasa there as could see alot of **** underneath it..
sexy clean..
old hinges off...
hinges on new..
and in with the new....
going to wait until i move to my unit and get bonnet and boot painted at the same time...
also got the brackets done for aerocatch pin mounts...cheers again to flatout for the great idea!! lol yer i coppied him....(mine are better tho..)haha
started with this...
cut out some triangles..
got the old power file out...
bent over 10mm down long edge on the folder..
added some holes for extrra lightness lol
primered..
and matt blacked..
and on the car with pins mounted!!
what do ya think...
Great work. Not bend the holes in for more strength
Cheers...tbh they don't need much strength it's not like there under any load..the folded edge is more than enough, lol and plugs I don't have a press..
2 different sized sockets work well. I know what u mean, prob strong enough
Yer actually it prob would work well or a bigger socket and a golf ball or something...but yer I don't think it needs it!!
went to sbd today and got some bits...
full engine loom
penny and giles magnetic type tps
underdrive crank pulley and alt pulley (alt pulley was out so on order)
should be able to start her up within the next week![]()
still got a list as long as ur arm tho....
only a little update, got the car over to my new workshop/barn yesterday so went down this morning and did a few bits, first on the list were the front disks and green stuff pads, i then set about removing the brake master cylinder and pedal assembly as i have been on a bit of a spree lately lol and have a harry hockley bias pedal box on its way to me..along with a fair few other bitsanyway heres a few pics...
her new home
old disks
new disks
new pads
removed old setup..
how i left her...
as you can see it needs a good ol' scrub and prob a lick of paint around scuttle area..will do this next weekend as need to cut the lip of metal round the firewall off a bit more in order to run new brake lines safely withy the 90mm trumpets im running.
now i have the workshop i can crack right on with it so am well chuffed right now![]()
