    mk3 gsi let BADGER spec!

    its been long over due and the gsi deserves better than to be sat on my drive doing he-haw!, so since starting to break my gte & being overly bored with my astra VXR i have decided its time to start a project thread on the gsi, i wont blether to much about it, i have had it approx 4 years now give or take, to start with it was a standared gsi that i ran happily standard for a while but i got the bug and it went from gsi xe to gsi c20let, i bought the engine from ? in shefield for £600 and it had the following, think the chips were gen? Vmax evo5 chips forge actuator kent vernier pulley with xe inlet cam saab red injectors K & N panel filter forged low comp pistons H beam rods frontera fmic hard boost pipes forge dump valve ARP head stud kit ARP rod bolts 8v sump/bafle plate, cant remember if there was anything else?. that lasted all of 3 months (was feking EPIC to say the least) until an oil cooler pipe decided to spit its dummy just out side anstruther fife and i snapped a rod melted a piston and blew half a rod and rod cap with half an ARP rod bolt all over the road plus 2 hole's front and back in the block, so since then it has been sat on my drive almost 2 years now i have nearly got shot of the dreaded gte my love for the gsi has TOTALY swung back around! , it now sits on my drive with the gte xe in it cavalier turbo wheels (in black) and 1 bucket seat as a temp measure (i have 2 buckets courtesy of NEMESIS) and sparco harness, i will mot & tax the gsi with the xe then i will slap ANOTHER c20let in it, time for some pictures

    the pictures arent in any order as such, after i blew up the c20let i had a xe block rebored to suit 86.5mm wossner pistons and matching pistons that i ended up selling to cavalier_c20let totaly regret letting them go now but such is life,the gsi now sits on my drive with NO interior other than 1 bucket and a set of clocks, it has a blue drivers wing courtesy of scorgie (CHEERS), 4 cav turbo wheels. cav turbo front legs/hub's/brakes/disc's/ & iirc 3.0l omega mv6 rear/hub's disc's and pads courtesy of cemex (cheers), there is no sound deadening nothing at all other than the above, the short term plan is to mot & tax with xe then let it and take it from there,

    it will be slow to start with but hopefully build up momentum as the winter bails and the summer draws closer, will more than likely up date at weekends as that when i am home, hope it is of some interest to you guys

    cheers man!, i was a bit iffy about doing so but thought sod it, short term is to get a let back in it and IF i can get my buddies???? (they know who they are) to paint interior exterior underside and outside before i put a let in it i would be very happy!, then MAYBE long term do as your self and 4x4 it but thats a long way of as i want it up to scratch for this summer so i can have some fun theN take it from there, i thought i had some pictures of the seats but i cant find them, it was the bucket seats nemesis had in his DTM calibra 4x4 turbo

    Ahhh I know remember speaking to you in a petrol station one night you was in Aberdeen IIRC I was driving my red mk3 at the time...

    Ps. please tell me you still have that airbox and are selling it to me ?

    darrenF i do vaguely remember speaking to your self, iirc i do still have the air box but the bottom was cut out of it, wasnt the best fit but hearing the waste gate/chav valve working was NOICE!

    i feking thought that!, hahaha drive way queen i feel bad for it being so but not for long! if i still have it we can agree something, sure i do as i still have the K & N panel filterr that went in it but no gaurantee i still have it as i get pi$$ed of with things lying about i end up bining them, i scrapped a clet block and k16 plus a fair few other parts dont ask me why

    shell is pretty tidy mate, i was pondering an evo 6 engine as they are physicaly very similar and i would go with aftermarket management but as it is i will go with xe for its mot then clet after but things MAY change as i go along

    yes mr 8vt the lick of paint has previously been mentioned! power is yet to be decided but will be more than it was before i blew it up!

    Ah yes the bored engine mate. it finally runs. started her on saturday ther. only issuse is icv. its idling too high so delighted with that

    aye man but its in fife, al have a look for the air box at the same time, yeah hoping to have it on the road asap with the xe then hopefully that will get the ball rolling

    ah nice 1 mate!, did you use the pistons you get from me?, icv isnt much of an issue so yeah i would be delighted to! will have to slap a couple pictures of it up even a vid of it runing!

    Ah nice 1 man, TOTALY gutted I let them go but that's what happens when ya split we the mrs lol. Was it easy enough to build it?, was thinking do I build a clet or buy 1??

    short term to do list

    sort cam belt mount/p/s pump/bracket issue
    get o/s wing painted
    weld patch on sub-frame
    re-do brake lines
    hook up hand brake cables
    re-do drivers side leg (think the spring is seated wrong as it sits higher than n/s)
    source and fit new indy's (in hand)

    thats plenty for now no point making a stupidly long list


    drivers side wing is curently blue but will be matched to the rest of the car for friday , a colleague at work has offered me a multi ribbed p/s pump/bracket if i cant find mine so that will be the issue with the V-belt set up sorted, i have a small patch to weld on the sub-frame this will be a temp measure until it is replaced when the new motor is fitted, brake lines will do that last on this list lol, indys 2 min job, investigate/sort spring, fit brake cables, probably a few other bits to sort over this coming weekend so this should keep me out of trouble

    will update with pictures of me getting beat by the list above sunday evening, i will also add some pictures as it sits with the gloss black turbo wheels and will throught the 2 buckets in for a picture for the crack

    well never got much done with the car at all today as i ended up tidying up the garage and sorting out some bits that are surplus to requirement so look out for a for sale thread some not bad bits up for grabs digi dash xe/let bits etc, will stick up a couple of pictures of how the car is sitting atm, well i went to slap the other bucket in the car for a picture and to my amusement the pas seat sub-frame does NOT fit llf, any way will through some pictures up in a min
