    Nova GSI Rally Car Project

Hey people, bought a 92 GSi a few years back with plans on using it as a daily driver, that idea went out the window quickly when insurance getting in the road. The car lay for a while under a cover and i finally set to it with plans of using it for Navigation and road rally events. The car was rotten in the usual places (arches/batter tray) so set about fixing that and building myself a rollcage from scratch to my own specification and strengthening the shell as i want it to last.
The engine was stripped and sent away for machining (crank reground, over bored 20tho) Have bought few bits like twin 40 webers for it and have a group A spec head in the works at the moment along with solid lifters and a good cam this engine should be fit to embarrass a few of the higher end cars at events.
Working away at the car trying to get it painted up, first time sprying something on this scale so go easy on me
Have enjoyed working at her and i know im far from done yet.
I have talked enough, heres the pics so far. Enjoy

The buckets are amazingly comfy, had them fitted in my we micra daily for a navigation rally an they are great, after 75 miles of rallying my arse wasnt even sore lol The nova is getting there slowly, has been a long drawn out process but want to do it right. Hope she is welcome on here

Shame to see a genuing gsi (especially in silver) being ripped to bits, but its been done to a great standard, Really like the shallow wheel well (hate seeing them removed)

    Keep up the good work!

As Gary said it is sad to see another Gsi being ripped to bits. But at least it is going to live on and the work you are doing is to a great standard, keep it up.

Looking good and I love some of the other vehicles in the garage!
Might have to watch out for your young assistant, though - she may be expecting the keys when it's finished

Only thing is is the '40's are rather small - especially with the rest of the upgrading. Have you considered 45's or even throttle bodies (if reg's allow them)?

Re: Nova GSI Rally Car Project

I didnt want to use the GSI shell to begin with and i tried to sell it to get myself a base model car but anyone who came to see the car offered me basically nothing for it and i wasnt for giving it away so i decided rather than let the car sit and gather dust id use it for the purpose which i see best for me, i knew i would get the haters as i know these are getting rare but what else can i say, its being used and will still be seen as a GSI. I thought 40's would have been enough to run her but its no big deal, i would rather have a set of delortos and can get a a set of 45s from a friend.

Nova looks good so far. Are the Droop Snouts being turned into racing vehicles of some sort too?

Re: Nova GSI Rally Car Project

no no the droop snoot will be put back to as new, along with the sportshatch. The nova will be used for more tarmac events but would love to use it for a few forest events as a bit of loose would be fun.
