Astra Mk2 GTE V6 Pic heavy

Thought id join club and do a Build thread as the lads that have been part of it are members on here! im already on Mk2 astra forum and spend far to much time reading through there build threads some stunning examples on there.
Bought my GTE at end of november.. Spotted it on a local site it was advertised for fair money and iv wanted somthing as a hobby/toy for a while had been sat for a couple of months and was looking abit filthy
Pics on back of my truck night i picked her up.

Then following day i spent buying and fitting a new radiator oine on was looking worse for wear. And machine polishing till she looked like this...

It was never my intention to keep her as a 8v although i was impressed by engine as it sounded really well and had no issues at all few people complimented it i went through a stage of wanting to SAAB Turbo it but a bit of research and a few friends put me of that idea... And i contemplated selling her and buying a 16v..

Then a calibra V6 came up for sale quite cheap really and had a decent engine and a few bits i could ebay to get some cash back. Main thing was a big stupid stereo. Had a massive bodykit which dragging it on back of truck soon sorted

    Big silly system in car

    Removed and lined up

So that lot sold on ebay which left me some more cash to play with. So engine and box was removed from Calibra as well as Front hubs wheels etc. Anthing else just wasnt worth seling on as it was either to tatty or not good enough So she went to scrappys

Then it was astras turn so i took it back down to my mates luckily theres 3 of them ant and shaun who are both good with conversions both had MK4s with V6s which later became a LET and a Saab turbo. Chris has helped as well done a few let conversions and is a bit of a perfectionist with Wires.

    Astra with 8v in

That was removed and split from engine The V6 was then split from its gearbox Bit of a problem then as we needed a XE Flywheel and Clutch Luckily chris is friends with another lad thats on here some where and got me a cheap flywheel. Then i bought a LUK Clutch kit which was fitted on the V6 lump and the 8v gearbox mated to that then the lot was lifted back into car,

This is where the hard bits started. the idea the lads had for engine mount wouldnt work as im using the V6 power steering pump. I was starting to get abit worried but after half hour of thinking they sent me to buy a sheet of Steal which i must admint has been fabricated into a very impressive engine mount. ill get a pic of it when i get chance.

That bought us up to today.. (they only started it yesterday.. lol) plan was to have it up and running before Xmas So iv spent most of the day picking up dinner and running about trying to get bits of steel tubing etc

Was going really well up until about 5.30 engine in all plumbed up i went to go pick up some oil came back and both lads were looking pretty annoyed. Turns out it was leaking water faster then they could put it in.... I threw a bit of a paddy at car but it turns out its the Thermostat housing thats craked trying to find one at moment.

Cant get to car till wednesday but ill update again then..

Again Cheers boys when you read this Ant (Boff) Shaun (Bop) and Chris (fish)

Bits im in need of if you have them and want rid let me know..

    Thermostat housing C25XE
    Knock sensor C25 XE

    Ill update that too

Re: Astra Mk2 GTE V6 Pic heavy

    28th December.
just one of those days today managed to get a couple of bits i need from MCD vaux conversions Sparke on here Bloke went and opened up for me So really cant fault Cheap Enough too so cheers.

is of part in place and other is it removed with new one.

Really is a nasty job if you ever have to do one and think oh ill leave that bit on and wigle it round.... Dont Take full Inlet off injector rail inlet plate the lot (really not nice lol)
Then garage where its stored One of lads was just there ro help me but needed to get of. And its not open again for a few more days Which was fine until we went to wire it up and found out the immobiliser had killed itself. Its cut in behind black box which we thought we had sorted until still nothing then we worked out it was cut into loom on passanger side on top of sill. it was 5 oclock lads wanted to get of and i wanted to carry on. So off gte went on back of my truck ...Where it seems to spend most of its life recently and its come home in bits.
Bought a load of wire, shrink wrap solder connectors new soldering iron etc on way home so tommorow im going to have a go myself outside. I wired my MK4 V6 up which is meant to be harder due to transponder etc. So i should be ok...
Im also going to do my headlights Black tonight so ill update with pictures Mk2 owners has a How to Guide.

    So Cheers

Re: Astra Mk2 GTE V6 Pic heavy

    29th December...
Spent most of the day trying to work the wiring out removed the alarm and immobiliser which was spread all through car they had definatly done a good job. so center console trims etc have come out. then i tried to get it running most of guides on internet just say RED = battery positive BLACK = ignition live PURPLE/RED Fuel pump then hey presto it will fire... Mine wouldnt so i was digging about for wiring and spending alot of time on google!
Then i put a thread on here and worked out the ECU was actually the GTE one and the V6 one had been put in back... Then due to the help of members on here we realised the one i had was immobilised and i dont have chip or key as i was told the calibra wasnt immonilised!! frustrated isnt the word!!!! so spent rest of night throwing a paddy...
    30th December ...
Went down to a mates yard for a brew he is also into his astras and done alot of conversions.. whilst chatting i spotted his mk3 in corner one of those long term projects... I then remembered it had a 3L V6 in it so went and had a nosey i really didnt think it would have the right ECU in it but hey presto it did!!
    ECU u dont want

    The mk3 v6

    The ecu it was hiding

So plugged it in and it fired!! looking under bonnet was like a fountain with fuel spraying every where..... that turned out to be the injector rail luckily hes also got one of them so that found its way onto my car this one is better as it didnt have the pipe for the FSE

Turned it over again fired but the 17mm fuel pipe was dripping fuel everywhere so weve made another end result is its RUNNING sounds well and when iv tidied up the wirimg will have a full service
On with wiring tommorow then putting it all back together....

    I NEED...
    PN ECU
    FUEL RAIL

    To replace my mates

On a serouse note iv fallen out with car too many times bop has stopped me from wieghing it in wuite a few times so cheers mate
