alright people, a lot of work will be going into this so thought i'd start a project threadalways been a big vauxhall fan, started with a vectra then had a mk3 astra, corsa b, mk4 astra then ended up with a clio sport 182 which i swapped for a c20let corsa, always wanted a c20let since i was a teenager so jumped at the chance to get 1. it started out life as a 1.0 12v. it has 308mm brakes on the front and a rear disc conversion on the back. it and has the full GSI kit and interior and was resprayed in white. not too keen on the alloys though! it only has a small FMC on the front hidden behind the bumper (i love the sleeper effect)
heres how it looked when i got it
it was running phase 2 when i got it and was very quick, loved driving it round and enjoyed seeing peoples jaws drop when i left them at the lights (mate in a 300bhp scooby springs to mind lol) then the bottom end started knocking so had to replace the blockmanaged to get a 2nd hand block for £550 so took the car to my mates driveway (gsilee91) and started to strip the engine out,
wasnt too bad to get out but it is a pretty big engine in a small bay as most of ya probably know so took a bit to get it out, im basically learning as i go because iv never had any experience with these engines but its always good to learn things and do it yourself![]()
heres how it looked with the engine out
this has been going on for a few weeks as weve only been doing it at weekends and i want to take my time as there is no rush and when you rush, you make mistakes! i bought this as a family run-around as iv just had a baby, always liked the GSi's and loved the look of the estate and i think theyre quite rare now so travelled with gsilee91 5.5 hours up to scotland and 6 hours back just to fetch it but its well worth it i think, only paid £750 for it
the interior is in mint condition so well pleased with it.
we now have the new block in the car and have got it all in and ready to go
went to turn it over and found that theres no spark (see other thread for details) hopefully its the fuel relay so i'll update after the weekend.
during this time iv bought a set of red saabs and a phase 3 ECU off nemesis so hoping to be pushing nearly 300bhp when it finally starts.
plans are to get it running and ready for PVS next year so plenty of time. plans are to strip out the interior and just have 2 bucket seats and harnesses to make it lightweight. want to get rid of the 17" alloys and replace with some 16"s providing i can get them over the brakes? also want to move the battery into the passenger footwell or the boot so i have more space in the engine bay! will keep standard turbo until next year then hopefully looking to put a big turbo on it and use my old block to get it forged to run big power, aiming to run about 400bhp by this time next year so we'll see how we go. thanks for reading![]()
will update as this progresses and hopefully you'l see it at PVS.
