    Kev's Fiesta Zetec S

Placed a deposit on the following car last night just waiting on a date to collect it now

After going out around Oulton Park in a friends near standard Zetec S i was shocked at how nippy it was and how well it handled so have been keeping a eye on them.

In the last few weeks we have put Kelly's Beetle for sale to get something more economical and we did nearly order a brand new Corsa 1.2 Limited Edition but after a chat with the mortgage advisor ( As we are looking to buy in the new year ) he advised it would reduce our lending capabilities by £9.6 - £10.6k so i said no chance on the corsa to her. We set about a task of a cheap car until we have a mortgage and then she can get a corsa or something newer while i can keep the car for a DRT (depending on what it is). Now shes had a fiesta before and loved it so i mentioned the Zetec s We went to have a look at a few and she knew the cars as it was like her first one. We set the budget at £1500 but most had epic mileage and more rust on the arches than paint

After looking on ZSOC i found a Radiant Red Zetec S down the road that was put up that day with low ish miles, lots history, few mods but more importantly hardly any rust with all the major work already done!

Visited it straight away not to miss it and its gorgeous, great drive and yes it has a few bits to do but ill comeback to them. Deal has been struck, deposit left and waiting on funds to clear now to collect it

    The Car -

The guy bought the car for a weekend/track car as he has had several before but he has a mk1 XR he is rebuilding so this went for sale.

The car is a Ph1 2000 (W reg) radiant red mk5 zs with A/C. It has covered 63k, mot'd till the end of march 2012, tax till sept 2011, 3 previous owners. The previous owner had car since 2001 when he bought it as an ex-demo from Dagenham Motors in Uxbridge (with bill of sale). It comes with all mot's from new to prove the mileage and all receipts for parts over the years. Original owner had serviced the car himself every 5k using Ford parts. The car is in good condition and has been looked after very well.

When the last owner bought the car it was totally standard with 56k on the clock, it was mainly being driven by the original owners wife. The previous owner bought the car in november 2010 made a few improvements.
    • Ap coilovers - 1500 miles
    • Powerflex rear bushes - 1500 miles
    • Powder coated rear beam - 1500 miles
    • 12.5mm axle spacers
    • New Ford top mounts front and rear
    • Rear braided brake hoses
    • New front wishbones
    • New anti-roll bar bushes
    • New down links
    • New track rod ends
    • New front EBC drilled/grooved discs - 150 miles
    • Green stuff pads - 150 miles
    • New ford clutch and slave cylinder- 1500 miles
    • New puma racing gearbox -1500 miles
    • New vibra-technics lower mount -150 miles
    • Ford cambelt and tensioner kit - 1500 miles
    • New Magnecor Kv85 red ignition leads - 150 miles
    • New plugs, oil, oil filter
    • K&N panel filter
    • New standard exhaust system - 300 miles
    • New 16" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's graphite - 1500 miles
    • 195/45/16 Toyo T1r's - 1500 miles
    • New lower OMP strut brace
    • Sparco adj top strut brace
The car drives excellent as everything is virtually new, the engine runs perfectly and feels a lot quicker with the puma racing box - These can not be got hold of any more :to be added again: . Overall its in really good condition with only two small bubbles on the drivers side rear arch which im going to clean up and get sorted next summer. The other arch and back panel are perfect, the underneath is really clean as well. The only issue is when you open the door and pull the door rubbers back there is a small hole on each side but Kellys uncle is going to sort this for us as i forgot he works in a bodyshop

Has the odd ding but nothing a mobile sent company couldn't sort.

    Pictures -

    Door shuts -

The car was over budget but i only need to sort the 2 bits above and then the car wants for nothing so in the long run it will save me alot of money and faffing about!

Well Kelly will be using it from when the Beetle sells & ill be borrowing it at weekends / hopefully the odd track day as should be fine as it is :tape:

    Plans -
    • Soon as i can i want to bin the EBC Green **** pads off it (any suggestions) as i hate Green stuff.
    • Add my cd player with Ipod connection
    • Under seal the rest of the car
    • Decent in car speakers

Once Kelly hands it back -
    • Cage
    • Bucket Seats
    • Free Flowing Exhaust
    • Cams
    • Manifold

    Possibly 1.7 Puma lump? :heh:

Will be slow progress but it will be fun and something totally different for me as its not a Vauxhall (although i may have a mk3 aswell im awaiting a reply lmao )

    Re: Kevs Fiesta Zetec S

I went to cadwell park last month with some friends and one of which had a puma powered zetec s, it was by far and away the most fun as it was so cheap and with coilies and buckets could really be chucked about, he`s now going down the 2.0 fiesta st route on tb`s so that should be fun.

    they are fantastic cars -

Car is now home and its fantastic to drive. Box is very short but for town driving will be fine

First thing i did was get the car on a friends ramps

    Poly bushed rear beam -

Clean all underneath and new lower strut brace -

New coilovers and braided hoses -

    nice engine mount -

    Cars home

    fancy shot

From what i can see i need a new drivers headlight as a stones hit it and cracked it, fix the rear seats back in along with the door cards & just give it a dam good polish etc

Car will be Sorn from tomorrow so gives me change to change a few bits

Had one of these as a company car 10 years ago. Worked for Citroën at the time but we bought in 5 of these so I ended up running one. Wasn't as quick as the VTS in a straight line but easy as quick in the twisties and felt a lot safer too

    Re: Kev's Fiesta Zetec S

Well ive been using the car for the last week to run about in and ive loved every minute of it Its been great on fuel, nippy, its basically like a little go kart

As of today i have SORN the car as the tax is due and until Kelly sells her car it wont be used. Being a bum at the moment i had a good chance to clean it

So, out came the snow foam, Super Resin Polish and Megs 16 wax!

    Pics below -

Now its all covered up -

The dirty diesel finally back from being repaired when some douch bag hit it!

Just need to clean the engine bay tomorrow and then look for the rear speaker wires as they seem to of gone AWOL!

Still needs work with a buffer but i dont have one so sod it lmao Cover is great £4 from Aldi when they had them in. I bought it for the astra and it worked a treat in the snow as i was doing a epic commute - took the cover off and away i went as windows had no ice etc. Really good covers just need a bigger one now when there on offer next lmao

Not much to update really. Sorted the rear speakers out as the wires had been disconnected & had been put behind the rear plastics. Now back in and working nice

Other than that its not been touched or moved, started etc lol

    Today this arrived -

Ive bought this to protect the coilovers as from various recommendations its the shizzle & highly tested

Also bought some De tango'd headlights (on there way to me at the moment) as 1 of mine as a crack in it, looking out for a new cd player and possibly HID's (unsure at the moment)

Today ill be cleaning the coilovers and protecting them i think (if the rain holds off!)

Thats really nice, good spec There actually pretty good wee cars, not the quickest, but the throttle response is brilliant. Looks great in red with the anthracite rims
