Hi all. Thought i would post up a project thread of my cavalier. Ive had the car about 4 months now, got it as a half finished project. The previous owner had carried out alot of work on the car before he sold it to me, some of the things he did was engine out for a full rebuild and clean up, engine bay tidyed up along with arches painted, all suspension bits painted. sadly the owner lost interest in the project though and left it for a few months and eventually then sold it to me! So i sold the mk4 astra i had at the time to buy this cause i got it for a price i couldnt refuse. so my aim was just to finish it, things that needed done were to clean up the whole underneath, new fuel tank, brake lines, fuel lines etc. I will just let the pictures do the talking!

Got the car like this -

Couple of photo's of the work that had already been done -

All dirt removed from underneath and painted in anti-rust primer -

Floor then painted black, New Fuel tank.

Got it out of the garage yesterday for the first time in a few month's, was good to see it looking like a complete car again lmao

So thats the progress so far, next things on the list is fuel lines sorted, fit fuel pump etc so we can get it running!

the last owner did do a pile of work to the car and you can tell its a very clean standard mk2 sri now

Yeah the last owner did stacks of work to it. Im really chuffed with the car! looks like it wont make the road this year though because it probably wont be ready till the winter time and due to insurance purposes :-/

Cheers for all the coments guys. The only thing that ruins it just now is that backbox, but no worries its getting replaced! Also the tow bar has to go to!

Went out to the car for a wee while today and got my central locking kit fitted. Will make life a wee bit easier when its on the road

where did you get that locking kit from and what comes in the kit and if you didnt mind me asking how much was it. im after one for my nova as it was stolen a couple of weeks ago but luckily i got it back

Thats one clean cav.Good to see a hatch too rather than the saloon.Ive got the cdi hatch im fitting a isuzu 1.7td too as i use it everyday. I dont suppose you remember what colour wires in the doorlooms you connected the remote central locking to do you? Ive got the hawk alarm and it also does the c/l but im crap with wiring and cant figure it which wires in the doors i need it to connect to.

not sure where the kit came from or how much it cost as i got it with the car. whats included in the kit is 1 motor for each door to lock and un-lock, 2 key fobs, all wiring, brackets for the motors, and the control unit.

I took a picture of the wiring diagram, it shows the blue and green wires coming from each door? Hope this helps bud.

Havent updated this in a while, But been busy trying to get it on the road, hoping for it to be on the road in the next few months, whenever the salts off the roads really! haha. Underneath's all done now and I gave the engine bay a wee freshen up as some of the paint was looking tacky. got all the fuel lines ran to the pump and engine anol. But had trouble with trying to get it fired up, the engines turning over fine and its getting good spark. but not getting fuel, the fuels getting to the fuel rail, thought that it could either be the pressure reg or the injectors themselves. but the fuel reg seemed to be running fine so checked to see if the injectors were getting enough power, does around 0.9volts to each injector sound right to anyone? anyways enough talking here's a few photos.

Also got the towbar off, looks much better.

Picked up another set of wheels for it, not sure yet whether to put them on it cause think personally the wheel trims look the dogs on it.

Got a set of mint wheel trims anol.

Also ive got a plug in the engine bay that i cant find a place for, looked everywhere for something but cant see anything? gets a constant feed of 5volts when the ignitions on. info on that would be great!

Thats the update for now anyway, hopefully another one soon.
