Currently waiting for the clutch slave cylinder. As soon as it arrives the gearbox will be bolted to the engine and find its place in the car Meanwhile I am customising the std seat rails to fit 2 new omp bucket seats and doing some body work.

    Interesting, good pics

what's a Lacetti though? Is it the same as we have, the one that Plato crashes every weekend in the BTCC?

yeah I know the one. It's just Chevy/GM have a habit of using the same name in UK/Europe/US/Aus/etc for different cars and then different names for the same cars lol

Will be interesting to see when finished - what do they handle like?

As standard they are not bad although when I lowered it by 35mm (apex springs)i saw an improvement. I bought mine with the 1.4 (they are not a very good fuel savers and a bit heavy, maybe that's why) When I removed the 1.4 and put the let for the first time to see what mountings I need the car had more clearance (mudguard arch to wheel) with the let than with the 1.4 which I wasn't expecting.

Edit : maybe thats why they tend to suffer from some understeering as they are a bit heavy at the front, although even modern vauxhalls seems to have same prob of usteering.

In the near future I might get a new set of BC coil overs but first will see how it handles as it is with the lsd.

No it was built in here (Malta), I bought it with the engine. It is constructed from elbows welded together and smoothed.

awesome project i like your solution for the oil return to modify oil level sender plate.

will this be ok as it is under the oil level in sump ?

Thanks. It should work as it is at the upper part of the sump and while engine is running the level will be a little shallower and also pressure in the pipe will push it downwards

Very nice mate, can i ask what engine mounts you used as my Kalos has the same 1.4 engine and mounts, and a turbo conversion was one of the things i was concidering.

    Cheers jonny.

Thanks, I have made the mountings myself. Designed them with carton before and then machined them (about 3/4 of a cm thick). Also reinforced the front end with a flat bar that's bolted from side to side. Also made a new mounting on it which bolts together the gearbox and engine (under engine number). All mountings bolt in the car in their original place (except the front mount) and aren't solid.

They took me a lot of time to design them and to make them as strong as possible, but now that I am driving the car it still feels like standard and no vibration at all

Edit: the front mounting together with the front end re inforcement can be seen in the pics.
