I've got myself another mk2 astra gte!!

As I'v worked my arse off in the garden doing my Decking, My wife let me have another toy.
Hi all, I'v been on a road trip today to Newhaven some 113miles from home, My son took me down in his BMW 318is which he got off ebay for £410 to collect my 1st 16v GTE.
This car was advertised on Ebay a couple of weeks ago so I went down two wks ago tomorrow for a look.
I wasn't sure whether to buy it all not but after a quick spin around the block I was hooked.
So a price was agreed a deposit was left to cover the cost of 6 months tax which was bought this morning.
Anyway temp guage didnt work when I looked her over but when we stopped for fuel to get her home Jack noticed the wire off so a quick fix and that was done.
The car has a years mot and was last on the road in 2008.
Oh yeah she has Champion leather rear seats and door cards.
Which will be sold as the plan is to restore to former glory, Unless someone has a pair of Champion front seats for sale?

Anyway this is what you want to see the pics...

It looks allot better in the pics than it actually is. She needs a fair bit of work underneath.

Iv been offered some wedge for the cards and rear seats so probably take it and go original.

True 3 to many. With the up keep of the 1800, running this 16v and our day to day cars, Then theres the escort. And of coarse the 4x4. No hurry to get them done. I think with any car that needs re-storing it makes it easier if there a working vehicle. So really need to concentrate to get into the 4x4.
This 16v was way to cheap to turn down. It may come to getting it where I think it should be then passing it on and using the money for the 4x4.
Prob is i'v got attached to it..whoops..
Now the deckings done I have more time, just got to get in the garage and sort out all the car parts im having a bit of a blitz already and have sold a few bits off on ebay.
Once i'v sorted out what I want to keep here then I can move some of the bits into the other garages.
I'm sure i'l get there.

Yeah will do mate, Iv been out finding bits tonight, got some better original Hella clear indicators a strap thingy to stop the glove box dropping the contents on the floor and a couple of black interior door handles. Got a washer for the bumper, this will keep me busy tomorrow.
May buy a pair of Calibra black leather front seats to sort of match the door cards and rear seat.

Well today, I decided to fit the clear indicators, washer jet and check out the front end but as everything I do it went a bit to far here's some pic's!!

So found rust and rubbed it down and gave it a coat of hammerite,tempory measure.



The trim was tired so thought i'd tidy it up a bit..

Put the indicators that I got last night in and put the lights back on!



Its not the best job but it tidy's it up a bit, another coat and some laquer should improve it, will do it tomorrow.

Here we go, didn't have much time to play today as had to go and get stuff for our holiday, Anyway managed to start about 3ish and in between rain showers managed to rebuild the bumper and with Mrs Bs help re-fit it.
Looks ok too! Just got to do the rear bumper and side skirts,but a bit scared to take them off
But I think I have a spare set of each so will paint those up then remove the others and replace quickly so I DONT see to much rotlmao,lol

As someone wants to buy the rear bench and door cards I went to one of my garages with a boot full of the plastic trim from the 4X4 MK2 Astra GTE, Was in MAXPOWER in 1996. (I'm in two minds what to do)
Stacked it up and came back with two options for a replacement!
The Connolly seats came out of my very 1st GTE some 10/11 years ago this was a white ish 1.8s GTE. whether the seats came standard I have no idea. the other rear bench is from a GLS I have all of that but its a four door interior so door cards etc will be no good..


The plan is to have the Connolly seats restored and door cards made up to match. These will eventually go in here 1.8 Turbo Pace/Courtenay Astra GTE
So will be on the search for a light rainbow interior!!
