Not made much progress this week, had a few parts arrive from Germany, also a new alternator belt and we have drilled the studs that had sheared in the manifold out and replaced those. Just waiting for some more parts then the engine can go in leaving the wiring, fuel lines, throttle cable and exhaust for the main jobs plus all the usual little jobs as they pop up![]()

We've been busy again tonight and got the engine in. It's got to come back out however so I can modify the chassis!thought we'd get away without having to do anything! I predict well have it running Wednesday (hopefully!).

Been busy again tonight so here's tonight's progress pics
Had to take the engine back out again to "modify the chassis" this meaning warn up with high temp heat gun and abuse with hammer til satisfied! (before paint)
(After paint) please not a colour match was purposely avoided. We only want a contrasting colour that will look decent when cleaned up, and we sprayed the bay with all pipes, hoses ETC just to tidy it up really.
Same applies for the near side chassis, just a quick tidy up.
Once the engine bay had dried we dropped the engine in for hopefully the last time! Stuck all the wires back on and air-box. Also patched up any scratches that were caused when the engine went in.
Then it was a case of having a tidy up and bolting the downpipe to the manifold. Luckily it fit straight onto the rest of the exhaust so no exhaust mod needed this time!
We are hoping to have it fired up tomorow night but only for a few seconds to check wiring, pipes hoses ETC.![]()

Also I will mention I had to shorten the fuel return pipe by about a foot to get it to fit.

Here are a few more pics from Saturday mornings progress;
Started the engine up but only for a few seconds as there is no cooling on at the mo. Took a while to fire but were hoping it will get better as the engine is run in.

Great looking conversion mate! Engine shines like a diamond!
Hope it runs as good as it looks!

Is there much space between the airbox and the cam cover?
It's the standard tigra air box. It's having a 57i after the MOT. Did you get my message asking about the collant hose from thermostat housing to rad mate?

The reg on my Saab is R31 SUT too! Shame it's not R32 SUT as that would be worth quite a bit I imagine!

I'm using the multi rib set up with a modified timing belt roller as the aux belt tensioner and after the chassis mods, (hammer!) clearance is pretty good. Like I said though mate it is the tigra airbox, not the C18 one.
Cheers mate that would be awesome, or if you could post a pic of yours and I'll do some comparing : )

No use at all my man! I'll bend a welding rod to shape and go to Vauxhall and see if they have got anything to match. Cheers.

Lexmaul so rocking horse turd indeed. In the end it cost me about £3 as I got a whole car with it on for a couple of hundered quid! lmao
once I'm home tonight and if I remember I can go out and take some pics if required.
Just an update on the build for those interested, I have sold everything to make way for the new project (Saab powered BMW e36) so to that end even though the engine was in and running, the shell was no good after discovering it needed a new sill, both front wheel bearings and front chassis rails welding and a respray... Wasn't worth it financially to finish it offstill have the full rolling shell so if any parts are needed please ask as its only going to scrap in the next few weeks.

Too bad mate, I've indeed seen a couple of Tigra's on the forum here with pretty bad rust problems...All the best with the sale!
