only a small up date been sorting the stag do out

but did get time to sort some little bit's out went in the garage to a strong smell of petrol so pushed it out turned the pump on and found is

wipped the fitting off ptfe 'eg and back on job done, also started to run some extra wire's for bit's, switched earth of a add on fan switch i've run a new temp sensor wire to as the nova one is to short.

but the best part of the week was picking these two bad boys up had my eye on them for a long time, mate of mine bought them from vauxhall a few years ago on his trade club card, at the time the told him they where the last set of gen gm one's left how true this is i don't know but now going to a good home, he never used them

    still in the box

i'm going to leave the stickers on i think

    Re: novavan re-shell redtop T45s

not put a update on for a long time lads down to changing my phone and losing a load of photos

so just a few new pic from this week, the car was booking in yesterday for rolling road set up, so come the end of last week the penny finaliy dropped .......... to much to do and not time to do it
so in with the holiday form in booked monday + tuesday off too
so first of all go over all the running gear check every thing was tight, shocks, axel, bottom arm's, tie bars ....and so on
then pop to demon tweeks to buy a new weber 45 carb as one of mine i had was dead one of the brass fitting inside had welded its self in to the body of the carb, i'd had a price off my mate that works there on the friday of 280 mates rate's so not to bad only to find that they had sold the pair on the saturday gutted two weeks waiting list so the van was to get set up on the sport twin 40s
    on with the jobs
    re-fit the inlet and carbs

    cam belt and pullys
next the sump? bit of an oil leak and needed to fit the ARP rod bolts, then when re-fitting the dreaded noise ...........

only cracked the sump, so off down the other garage to strip the other block
sump on (which still leaks by the way!!)
gear box seals and oil in

    some little extras

    ready for 'D' day

then i get the text....... that tailer you where borrowing you cant have a few hours that night ringing around i picked up a rented trailer 40 quid a day and they let me have it the night before so i could get to the garage early

had some fun winching it on on my own at half 7 in the morning the wheels where so close to the side rails
dropped it off and what home to clean the garage and to do some pacing up and down waiting for the phone call that it had gone BANG,, by half two could take no more so went back, to find it just coming off the rollers

and asked for the bad news????

to be told none!!!! ''she's a good one it was still going but to put some miles on her and we'll will push her more''.......she's pumping out 147 bhp at the wheels and all on nova sport weber 40s so thats about 170 at the fly???

    well happy with that

Nice power, will you be upgrading to 45s or keeping the 40s? Bay looks tidy.

    Re: novavan re-shell redtop T45s

well what can i say.......... this week has been a mad one ups and downs!!

so where to start, monday with everything going well i took the bumpers off and wheels and dropped them off at the body shop for painting, on the way home i book the nova in for its first MOT for the saturday, with not a lot to do with the week my mind went back to the RR and being told it smoked a little on over run, so let the nova run up to temp and give it some revs... nope not happy did a comp test and all good,

so took the head off for a look hoping to just do the stem seals only to fine this,

    and this

gutted not sure whats done it but the block is dead for now so stop a few hour and took it all out

that was tuesday so wednesday ordered new parts inc new piston rings head set more ARP rod bolts and more, thursday night set about getting my other engine out the unit for its turn in the car
so good friday on with the strip down

pistons out and rod caps for counter sinking

with the block honed and the pistons bank in the block needed painting and head bolt which my mate who owns a wrexham motoring was taking home with him the thursday night after a phone call to him we ended up back at his shop lol on his day off closed bank holiday????????

so with the block paint in to the early hours friday night saturday soon came time foe the head next

plus the other part that can help stop smoke, the stem seals!

them the job i was most looking forward to........... lapping the valves in

my hand are still killing now spent around two hours work down the cutting pastes

run out of picture's now stopped in the garage till 11 and ended back with this

fitted the cam belt and bits this morning all ready to run but forgot to buy oil
so going to wait till tuesday to start her, need a few days off
all to get her to billing

great thread, just reading it from the beginning. the lump looks very tidy in there, not much room between the throttle bodies and bulkhead though! good work though, look forward to seeing it in the flesh at billing etc
