    Corsa C X20XEV (slow build)

Hi all, I started a project Corsa C 04 Twinport 1.4 (Z14XEP) and I'm going to fit an X20XEV from Vectra B,hope with some upgrade bits to get more power of it, also I will fit rear discs and I'll try to fit subaru's sumitomo alloy 4pots under 15' wheel, any ideas will be acceptable about my try.

    Here is some pics:

    donor car

    engine finaly off

and the target car (bad quality pic)

    and the brakes

My first attempt was to use 288mm 5stud from vectra but the swivel hub is completely diffrent from the corsa's one and didn't fits, so I'm going to make an adaptor to bolt the caliper on to the corsa hub and use 270mm disk, as I said I want 15 wheels. The rear hubs was too diffrent and didn't bolts on the corsa's rear axle so I'll made my own plates to fit astra 240mm with vw group rear alloy calipers

    pics soon

    I am sleeping at night.

I will try to explain it in english.
The biggest Problem was the electric. I have the original Z12XE ecu still in the car. The ecu is only for the water temperature gauge in the dash.
The X20XEV has its one ecu, which is only connected to the fuel pump and the engine speed signal.
Oh, and the speedo will not work, because its controlled by canbus. I used the servo engine from a omega b speedo and put it behind the corsa c dash.

I needed a lot of time to find this out.

Re: Corsa C X20XEV (slow build)

ok I understand, my plans are to remove the corsa dash and put an aftermarket digital one .I have an issue about the key and the imob, I'll see on the way, if I can't make it works then I'll follow the Megasquirt way to avoid that useless stuff. BUT another prob is I can't find any manual on internet about the wiring, if i had then I believe there's no prob for me, I wired up my mini vtec on 2 days without headaches because of teh wiring manual. Does the X20XEVs harness plugs has differences from the corsa's plugs??

thank you anyway from your informations

Re: Corsa C X20XEV (slow build)

Ok, if you don''t want to use the original corsa dash and speedo it should not be the problem. But I had to keep it original for our TÜV.

The plugs should be different, because your engine is from a vectra. Only the x20xev ecu from the astra g has the same plugs.

    Hope this helps: http://www.vectra16v.com/slp/slp_vectra_b_mj96.pdf

did you had problems with engine fitting in corsa's engine bay?
i'll keep the F18 gearbox, but i'm thinking to change the final drive from 3.57 to 3.74 of my F13
    (Z14XE and Z12XE/XEP have 3.94 i think, am i wrong?)

Re: Corsa C X20XEV (slow build)

Yes, the F13 my corsa had, had 3,94. This was first mounted to the x20xev with a special customized flywheel. But after about 4000km I broke the gearbox:

After that i putted a f17 in and everything works fine.

Is the F17 a small block or big block gearbox ?? These are mounted to the diesel engines are they ??

Re: Corsa C X20XEV (slow build)

I saw in the past this photo... poor gearbox!
I can't find an F17+CR from a GSi or Tigra TT 1.8, they're very rare cars here, especially the first one (that's because I have another problem with the rear disc conversion),
I found somewhere one, but it was an F17WR (diesel models)
I'll try to keep my F18CR gearbox, replacing the final drive (3.57 to 3.74) and finding the proper mount of this gearbox of the backside of X20XEV

Re: Corsa C X20XEV (slow build)

    After a long time (almost a year) I decided to continue with my really slow build. Firstly, I quit the 4pot idea and I followed a common path about braking upgrades on corsas;
I used front brakes from a meriva 1.6 16v with drilled-grooved discs (280x25) and ofcourse ebc redstuff from a corsa d opc/vxr (308x25). As you know, this car use the same brake pads as the meriva. The reason is that I want to keep 15' wheels for better handling in stiff corners (my place of living has millions of them) and good riding characteristics. Here they are my "new" orange wheels with toyo r888s 195/50/15

the car is getting ready for a track day, time to replace the clutch

right, it's the old engine, z14xep, i don't have match time to replace it with my x20xev, but it's ok for now
    Braking upgrade (front)

    and the old ones

there is no track day car without a proper bucket seat, I chose a black sparco corsa, but I designed my own mounting frames

not so bad, could've bein' better!
That's all for now, coming up next: rear disc brake conversion (astra g discs with golf rear calipers), opel/vauxhall combo c front arb (22mm) or meriva (21mm) and vectra b rear arb
