    My mk3 astra gsi resto begins

    Well I have owned her for over 3 months now,thought I should put some pics up and progress of the work done so far and future plans for the car which are happening very soon.

    Spec of the car 2.0xev,calibra turbo alloys and front and rear brake set up,5 stud conversion,phase 1 rear lights,cdx leather,vectra b sri s/wheel and scorpion backbox.First few jobs on the car was :-

    1.new rad fan switch
    2.new thermosat and seal
    3.service,oil & filter,plugs,air filter,fuel filter and pollen filter.
    4.Fit Phillips extreme headlamp bulbs.
    5.Change gearbox oil,pas fluid,coolant,bonnet stay clip.
    6.Cut away ex manifold heatsheild as rubbing on manifold and rattling.
    7.Change coolant
    8.Replaced cam cover gasget as leaking.
    9.Unblocked water drain pipe by heaterbox(full of crap and blocked up,usual problem,water in footwell)Problem solved.
    10.replace 2 front indicator lenses
    11.clean out throttle housing and ISCV and refit ISCV with new gasget(badly gunked up)
    12.fit new front and rear pads with Ferrodo Premiers,top quality,bleed brakes and new dot 5 brake fluid.Backed handbrake off and re adjusted.
    13.Fit new heater resistor(usual story fans only working on speed 4 on my car)

    Bought GTE LCD dash and plugs ready to convert.
    2 new GSI 16V badges
    2 new door check straps and bolts
    2 track rod ends
    2 phase1 door mirrors,phase 1 bonnet and rear spoiler
    New Vauxhall mudflaps

    All above ready for a complete strip and repaint in March/April.

    Purchased and fitted recently
    1.Elec sunroof kit
    2.Genuine Vauxhall CDR500 cd player
    3.LED bright white heater,MFD and clocks bulbs(looks great,big improvement over standard ambers)
    4.Modified/de restricted the airbox,pulled 2 pipes out from inside the airbox,sound resanator from under the airbox and front ram pipe from airbox to grille.Replaced airbox to grille with a nice 70mm wide ramair type induction pipe(big difference in airflow and a little noisier)

    I am about to replace the XEV with a very early 2.0xe type coscast head,forged pistons,flat flywheel pre lambda engine,also comes with F20 box,ecu and loom.A cracker by all accounts with low miles and service history to back the mileage up.
    Parts purchased ready for new engine
    1.2 litres Fuchs Sintofluid MTF gearbox oil
    2.ARP conrod bolts
    3.New headertank
    4.Goodrige brake line hoses
    5.cambelt kit
    6.waterpump
    7.2 auxillary belts
    8.thermostat housing and seal
    9.Bosch dizzy cap(ouch,expensive)
    10.Bosch rotor arm
    11.Coolant temp sensor
    12.cam cover gasget
    13.inlet manifold gasget
    14.2 cam seals
    15.throttle body gasget
    16.exhaust manifold gasget
    17.NGK BCPR7ES plugs.
    18.Just sent injectors off for cleaning,flow testing and servicing.

    So i've got a few parts ready you could say..lol.
    Gonna be putting the engine in the next few weeks.

    ***MY 2.0 XEV,F18 BOX,ECU AND LOOM WILL BE FOR SALE VERY SOON***

    Collected the 2.0xe (XEJ block) today off Davey J along with f20 box,oil cooler,4 branch manifold etc.Gonna be cracking on with it now.

    Got a few more parts ready for when the xe arrives.

    TX Autosport oil dipstick tube and water pipe,ARP conrod bolts and the injectors back from cleaning/servicing from Nige P off here.

    Hi lads thought id make abit of thread for lee and also my work on his car at the moment. Early xej to be converted over with a good overhall on the engine. At the moment engine on the stand ready for a good clean.

    As you can see above the ecotec is out and the xe is being prepared before dropping the engine into the car.
    At the moment the xe cam cover,cambelt cover,engine mounts,inlet manifold have all gone for acid dipping and powdercoating.Pic above shows that the subrame and front ARB are also going for dipping and coating.

    PARTS ORDERED RECENTLY:-
    1. Exhaust manifold studs and nuts
    2. oil dpistick gasget
    3. ARP flywheel bolts
    4. Airflow meter to sfi box donut seal
    5. Digi dash green baclight film (ordered from Germany)
    6. Stainless rocker & cambelt bolts
    7. Front ABS sensor & new front ARB screws
    8. Omega bonnet struts
    9. Sparco adjustable front strut brace(red)
    10. K&N panel filter
    11. front ARB spacers
    12. Powerflex front Anti roll bar link bolt eye bushes and rear beam bushes
    13. 26mm front ARB Polybushes
    14. 2 brand new bottom arms
    15. calibra turbo equal length driveshafts

    That's about it for now.As Tom states above more pics to follow very shortly.

    It was easy m8,just tap into the interior light wiring to power it up,simples...lol.
