Re: My mk3 astra gsi resto begins

Had some new parts today delivered today and some 2 nd hand parts.

New -backbox heatsheild, washer bottle and cap, touch up pen and aerosol cans and new petrol cap.

used parts 2 front abs sensors, horn, top nut cover front shock and small fusebox cover.

    Here's a pic

Latest info, fitted new airbag part of my steering wheel off a vectra b sri as my centre section was a big gruby.
Was trying to swap the fuel pressure regulator over as I have some fuelling issues though to be caused by the regulator, removed the rail and ended up snapping the union that fit between the rail and the fuel line, nightmare, that was yesterday.
Even worse 2 days before this my nice expensive Bastuck stainless ex system-the backbox decided to fall off, retraced my steps and couldn't find it anywhere,so not having much luck at present.
I have managed to source a Scorpion backbox and centre section,so that's something I guess plus I have a fuel line to rail rail union on it's way to me,had some rotten luck with the car lately.
    That's all for now.

    Thanks.Lee.

Got some more parts.Treated myself to a brand new Bosch 2.5 bar fuel pressure regulator and new fuel line to fuel rail unions with washers,a few other bits and bobs aswell for me to be getting on with for now.Not sure if this new regulator will solve my fuelling problem, can't find out just yet as I have no exhaust on the car right now.

Here's a few pics of the parts.

    Thanks.Lee.

The sad thing is Lee, you get back (to a much better extent) what you put into your Cosworth......................................you won't with this MK3. 10/10 for effort though mate.

Managed to source a Scorpion backbox to replace the Bastuk that fell off last week, still gutted about that.
Cleaned up the backbox today, didn't come up to badly either, better than I thought which was a bonus.

    Here's the pics:

Paddy, got the brand new fpr fitted, gotta get the exhaust fitted up first before I take it for a drive, then I will hopefully know if the new fpr has fixed the problem or not.I know it's a fuelling problem as I took it to my local rolling road guy,he thinks it the fpr aswell,we will see.I will keep you updated Paddy.

    Thanks.Lee.

Re: My mk3 astra gsi resto begins

Had another go at the astra today, fitted new washer bottle and cap, wahser jets and hosing.Replaced my rusty old wiper arms with a very nice second hand set, replaced the pas belt with new and changed the pas fluid.Had a nightmare at this point turning the wheels from lock to lock once at full lock the top pas hose blew off throwing all nice new fluid all over the floor.I have a problem now as the process was repeated and the hose blew off for a 2nd time dumping all the fluid again over the floor.

Then put all the soundproofing back into the car, carpets and seats, all were cleaned a few weeks back ready to refit, also wired in the heated seat switches I had.

    Thanks.Lee.

Re: My mk3 astra gsi resto begins

Took the car today to get the Scorpion exhaust system fitted, had new stainless decat made and a flexi put in the front pipe.I also had my brand new backbox heatsheild fitted.

Got lucky with my pas problem, the garage had a few spare pas pipes from a guy who came in with a gsi conversion redtop and wanted pas fitted,he had lots of spare pas pipes there,so I had the pipe with the proper connections on it,not like my bodged jubilee clipped pipe.On she went, pas belt back on,new pas fluid then the car was scretching again,on no not good, back to square one.On close inspection noticed the pas pump was loose with some bolts missing, luckily he had some bolts there that did the job,now the pas is perfect.
Couldn' fit my front abs sensors as the clips in the hub have snapped off,so need some new clips now, anyone got any or is it an Autovaux job?

Finally took the car for a run now I had an exhaust back on the car, time to try out my new fuel pressure reg to see if my fuelling hesitation was still there at 3.5-4k revs.Give the car a good blast reved it right through the rev range and it seems fine,so I hope that the fuelling problem has now been resolved.

here's a few pics, not very good ones though, will get some more on the weekend.

    Thanks.Lee.
