    Corsa b c20xe build

Sorry its another corsa b 20xe but i have allways wanted to build one so here go's

First off i bought a gsi with a 20xe fitted....

Beleave it or not this car was advertised just needing a front screen which was supplied

Ill let the pics do the talking..

As you can see it needed slighty more than a front screen.

I've had it for over a year now just sat about not having time to get round to starting it. So the time has come to get started.

Next up take the engine out.

The amount of bodge jobs on this car is unbelievable. Here are just some of them.

    Snapped stud in the block.

    Core plug leaking.

Pipe from the air flow meter split.

And just some pics of the strip down of the engine.

Then jet washed the engine off and started painting everything.

I had all the nuts, bolts, washers, cam sprockets, and some other bits and bobs zink plated. I should of taken some pics of them before.

For some reason i cant seam to find some of the build up pics.. Not to sure whats happened.

    New alt bushes.

Some new parts that came thought.

And how it is as of today..

Ill update some more as soon as i can.

    Steve.

Thanks mate, it so does if you where to go to the vauxhall and buy all of them new it would cost alot more then £45.

Thats what made me start all the zink plating, i rebuilt a cosworth engine but never replaced any of the bolts, just looked like i had never done anything to it.

    Re: Corsa b c20xe build

Had a good day on the corsa today, me and my dad got lots done.

The day started off like this.

And then left with a big hole.

Then we poped the new engine in.

Then we came across a small problem, the heater matrix water pipe is very close to the bottom of the inlet, not to sure how to get around this.... What have some of you guys done? have you just cut a little bit off of the pipe, but i am not to sure i want to do that as it may come off due to having no lip on the end of the pipe.. Any help would be great.

Then we had another helper my little boy....

    And how the day ended.

Fitted the spax coilovers all round and fitted the wheels..

    Steve.

bit late now but you can bend the heater matrix tube to a downward angle by putting a suitably sized rod up it, normally still end up trimming it down a bit though

you could remove the heater matrix and do it off the car then refit, would be a bit fiddly getting it back on though i imagine...

    Re: Corsa b c20xe build

God it was along time ago i updated this..

Well i got over the water pipe by cutting it down slighty, there is another sort of lip on the pipe so i cut it to there and fitted the roose pipes to it and these is lots of room now.

I have been taking lots of photos as i've been doing it but seem to have lost alot of them.

Anyway to the ones i have.

    I heat wraped the exhaust.

Got myself a ecotec pipe converter from ebay.

Repaired the ECT wire that had been cut and the wires twested together.

And the only pic i have of it almost finished.

I am driving it now but its got a problem, it ticks over lumpy i've tryed most things with it now and getting no where. If i disconnect the air flow meter it ticks over fine connect it back up again and its back to being lumpy, Ihave put a new 2nd hand one on it but made no diffarance at all. Put a new IACV on still the same, new ETC on still the same. I have checked lots of times for air leaks and can't find any at all.
I thought i was onto something with the ECU being a GY and the car running a early astra 16v loom with no lamda sensor but that seems the wrong way to go as i am told they are all the same. But i do have a FP ECU coming so i'll give it a try anyway.

I have been told to try giving the hall sensor a clean so i'll do that as well..

Promise to keep this updated this time.

    Re: Corsa b c20xe build

    All sorted,

I know there are some people on here that said there is no such thing as a none lamda ecu and that the only difference is the loom but.....

I have been on a Honda course this week and the guy taken the course was an old vauxhall diagnostic technician so I asked him about the problems I have been having, he said that if (like I had been told) I earth out pin 20 and the ecu was one for a lamda sensor it would just make the car run very rich and the ecu run open circuit.

So with this I mind when I returned home my new ecu was at home waiting for me, I put it on and fired it up and straight away the car is 100% better, no trying to cut out no lumpy tick over at all drives a hole lot better it's like a new car now and is doing what it is ment to be doing..

    Re: Corsa b c20xe build

I thought it was about time for a update..

Its been a bit slow as the car is in the bodyshop having a repaint, I went down as the guy doing it is a good mate so to keep the cost down i stripped the car down as must as i could.

I had the rear windows cut out as i didn't want any masking up lines around the rubbers, so that ment the rear screen had to come out and the front screen, I didn't get any pics of the windows out.

This was before it was flatted down, it also had two new doors as the old ones had door skins in the past and had started to go rusty..

The strip down of the old door.

I also got on the phone to LMF as the o/s engine mount never seemed to fit as it should do.

They asked if i could email them some pics of the mount to them to see what i was going on about, so i did and they phoned back saying that they have had some problems the the welders that make them for them and they would sort it.. then another call saying that there was going to be a hold up for about a mounth so they sent me a new rubber mount and a M-TEC mount for free. Good service.

That it to date i just need to build it back up.
