I love MIG...MIG loves meeee...like one big gooOy F A M I L E E E
Lovely calibra, but the amount of rust is unbelivable, never seen this much on literally any car, not just calibra. Must have been used by someone spraying salt!
Our future lies in the past, we can learn from the past to forcast our future,
One too many boat rides out in the channel I dare say, safe to say now though all the rusty bits are gonewell there is some minor bodywork which needs sorting but i'll pay an 'expert' to do that.
Great work mate, coming on a treat..
Very little progress at the moment as i'm working away alot and have a massive box of parts to fit ><
Got home last weekend and crudely knocked a gauge mount for the centre vent using some scrap carbon fibre I had loafing, first I used some butyl strip to seal the centre vent flap shut
centre gauge pod just pushed in, may well use a mk2 astra hazard switch mounted between the gauges should fit in nicely with it also being round
also fitted the led switches, I had used 'warm white' leds but the dials and stock oil/volt gauges I had fitted with 'bright white' so I will change all leds to warm or bright white still undecided though
and led heater panel fitted, again not too sure about warm white or the orange I used for the sliders now
just random pic of original bulb holders being fitted with leds

Looking good.
did you make the heater controls?
they looks sweet lit up buddy
make the uk a better place, break a boat aka calibra :)
Cheers Rod, I believe it was your gauge pod in the centre vents that gave me the idea
Yes mate, stripped them down and fitted leds myself, bit of a PITA but I may change it/do another panel with 'bright white' leds supposed to warm white as that would go with the dials and that better.
Hi, mate, did your top-mounts came with the 2 inclined holes, or you drilled them? Because mine didn't have those holes to bolt them to the turret. Also, it seems yours are concentric while mine are eccentric. I am thinking compbrake sent me other stuff. will post a pic of mine.
Ah really, I wanted eccentric ones so I could adjust the camber but from what compbrake told me that wasn't an option! the holes were pre-drilled same ones they had for the cavalier, however there site has been updated and they still seem to have the generic pictures of a different mount while the cav ones are no longer listed ><
I ordered the adjustable ones for calibra and received those. I still didn't trial fitted them, but it seems they are bigger then yours in diameter. Will see what happen.
Mine were the same size as the standard rubber mount hence the direct fit, get a picture up mate be good to see for comparison. If you like can dig the receipt out look for part number or something to reference.
Here is what I got. The cd is there to compare the size. Monday will trial fit them but I doubt it will.

Yeah I recognise the type, will probably need the strut top modifying to get it to fit which is probably why I went for the direct fit fixed ones.
What do you mean by modifying...?
Well the strut top doesn't a flat for that to bolt to unless you cut the top off and weld a plate on it
Do you have any photos of your top-mounts before putting them on the car?
Only this one but it's pretty poor
basically a solid version of the standard rubber mount fits straight in. The compbrake website still has the wrong images on some items the part number is cmb0562 but ignore the compbrake image it shows an adjustable mount.
Finally got some time off which consisted of more than just a weekend and was planning on doing a cambelt/waterpump change on my car but it looks like not soon enough as I had the pump fail while I was driving >< Although the cam timing hadn't appeared to of drifted I removed the head to check for any contact just to be sure.
The oil in the bore was leftover from removing the head (I had already wiped the block face so it looks worse than it is).
While the head was off I stripped it down to clean lifters and re-grind valves in, also sent it for a re-face as it got pretty hot
While the head was off used the opportunity to fit my silicone 3 port hose which would of been a complete nightmare from underneath with the tx box and driveshaft in the way. Also got the rest of the silicone water hose kit and a stainless waterbar.
Head re-fitted with new belt, pulleys and waterpump, also fitted an XE inlet cam retarded half a tooth.
Tried fitting a collins actuator onto the original actuator bracket but was a no go as it's just too big so bodged up my own from some plate aluminium.

Cheers mate, I suppose the harsh reality is they're worth more in bits than they are complete.
Not sure if I mentioned previously how terrible my fuel economy was (think I got about 200 miles on a tank!), I put this down to a slightly loose jubilee clip on the fuel filter where it appeared to be weeping petrol, however when fitting my sard fpr tonight I decided to remove the last oe piece of fuel line (steel pipe) and good job really as it pretty much came off in my hand
no doubt that was weeping fuel as well, so now I have nylon tubing running the length of the car into the engine bay.
Made a mounting bracket for the sard
and fitted along with the oe fpr blanking/adaptor plate
may get some 90 deg fittings so I can replace that piece of hose with a straight length between the two.
All I need now is to fit my EDS intercooler and pickup a phase chip.
yeah but at 1 point you could buy a cav sri 16v for £300, calibras will soon go up in price

Yep time will tell, now I need a backbox as I lost mine on the way to the chippy over a big bump and didnt realise, no sign of it on the way back so someone must of picked it up ><
