Well stock ish! I'll get a bar or so out of the GT25 with the E-Boost 2 that I'm running, should see around 260 to 280 with the cams and other bits which is enough just to get a few weeks of shakedown. Just finished notching the subframe to get the engine a bit lower, makes more space for the downpipe, and added solid marine grade nylon engine and gearbox mounts. I'll send the subframe off to the powder coaters on monday along with a few other bits and then start bulding it back up during next week. Once the underseal is finished I'll start closing the chassis in at the front end and I've picked up a carbon/ally front splitter and canard set. I'm going to reinforce the rear spoiler mounts next week and knock up a gurney flap for the rear wing and start putting the rear diffuser together.

Re: Lotus Carlton replica track car

Dropped the engine back in yesterday after giving the bay a quick splash over with a bit of paint and underseal. I've given it a fairly heavy coat of underseal but bearing in mind how much of a rot box these cars are I think its justified. I need to make a few mods to the steering centre bar and idler to clear the turbo elbow and downpipe, might have to look at using a different rack and trying to drop it lower down. Few pictures below of progress so far.

E Boost is made by Turbosmart, I'm not sure where its from but I think it might be an australian company. Works really well though, you can control gate pressure, water and nitrous injection, boost slope, loads of different stuff. I think I paid about £500 for it when I bought it last year.

Re: Lotus Carlton replica track car

The ECU has got a stage 2 chip which I think has the boost and fuel limit removed an also puts the rev limit up a touch. I'm using the E Boost because I like to have more accurate control over the boost level and the stock wastegate controller isn't really up to much. Once I get the new engine complete I'll dump the old management and convert over to Omex 710. I'll most likely keep the E Boost though as its got some really useful features and it will wrk well alongside the Omex.

Re: Lotus Carlton replica track car

Having a few technical issues this week with the rebuild mostly to do with the position of the downpipe. Because I'm using the nissan engine and gearbox the downpipe points towards the centre of the car once it passes under the bulkhead and catches on the new gearbox mount that I knocked up. as the engine is as low in the bay as I can get it (just enough room to pass a sheet of paper between the sump and the subframe!) I'm going to put a 45' after the lower bend to bring the exhaust back in line with the sill and then bring it up through the floor in front of where the rear bench used to be before the tee to both rear doors. The engine bay is now pretty much finished, just need to refit the solenoid for the E Boost controller and the lower radiator hose. All of the front suspension and bushes have been replaced, just waiting for the new inner and outer track rods to turn up. Front brake calipers mounts are finished as are the front brake lines.

I dropped the rear subframe and diff last night and strpped it all down. Going to get the parts powder coated and I've ordered all new bushes for the trailing arms and roll bar. Also ordered new rear dampers and a overhaul kit fo the rear calipers. I'll put some pictures up of the subframe once its back from the power coaters and reassembled.

Re: Lotus Carlton replica track car

After neglecting the old girl for a few months I've decided to crack on and get it finished. Not too much to report as I've been away from my workshop for a fair while due to working abroad. Theres not a whole lot to finish off, just niggly little bits that need fine tuning. Its also developed an electrical issue somewhere and now has lives and earths all over the engine loom where they shouldn't be! I'm hopeing to have the car out on the road by the end of January and I'll post up a few pictures of the progress on the car over the next few days.
