Me again, nothing exciting I'v got some wheels on the car1st time in 8months! Cant wait to get it on its wheels and off the stands
Also stripped the front driveshafts down and started to clean them up.
Anti roll bar etc!
Here's some pics!
Cheers for looking.
Chris
One question that bothered me for a while now, i assume you are dropping the rear out again so you can paint all of the underside when its time? If that's the case, why not just get it painted now and then refit?
Please ensure all events queries are pm'd in my direction. Please be patient and i will get back to you very soon.
looking great matey
Thanks mate, Slow and steady at mo I picked up the drive shafts and anti roll bar from my other project yesterday so they will be getting the same treatment later1.8 Turbo Pace/Courtenay Astra GTE
Not sure if i'l get anything done on this today thou, but if I get chance i'd like to trial fit the prop shaft and the non power steering rack
Chris
I'm fitting a calibra tank, but I'm going to have to cut into my boot floor for it, and fit a false floor a couple of inches higher so it won't hang lower then the rear bumper on the GSi, I'm also going to try and get the filler pipe to fit the mk3s location!
Just remember the mounting straps for a calibra need extending, as they are shorter one side. I'd like a custom tank, but haven't got the £££ for one!
Bit of an update, I thought i'd put the steering rack on. (non power steering one) and have a look at the prop shaft.
I need a pic of how the prop bolts go and a set if anyone has them.
the prop
bolts and pics please
I'v got to make mounts for this
Cheers Chris
every time i see this dude youve done more progress whens the big strip down for underneath painting?
Looking good buddy!
id need to learn a lot more than just welding if it was me haha
on the fuel tank side of thinks, have you considered welding a plate to fill the whole and then have a nice motorsport tank in the boot
Your doing such a good job bud keep it up
A bit more done today, more just faffing about then anything substantial I'v painted the rest of the prop and brackets, also found a few holes and cracks straightened up the seams underneath rubbed down the rear quarters! badly lol. Also went and picked up the new CV gaters.
I'v got two bits of this to make up brackets to mount the prop.
I'v got to cut the fuel filler cap out because when I eventually get round to sorting a tank I want to be able to fill it up without opening the boot
I straightened these out.
There's a tear here
A hole here
And a split in the bulk head.
Thanks for looking
Chris
Been a busy boy today I'v been up and down like a yo yo! But hey its been worth it. I made new mounts for the propshaftIt took allot longer than I thought
But a great result I didn't take any pic's of the 1st mount until it was on the car. here's some pic's
And the start of the rear mount!
Then I thought what the hell i'l put the bit up to the diff allot of faffing about but it went on, it may need a half inch or so out of it
Thanks for looking
Chris
Great work mate, i take it, its the original astra floor??
cracking job mateywhats next fella
the nuts and bolts for that rear propshaft rubber look like they could be the same as Land Rover Discovery 300Tdi rear prop rubber, 19mm spanner/socket size with nylocs, or look here: http://opeloem.com/vauxhall/calibra_...ler_shaft.html for the correct part number
