Nothing too interesting, just gave the tyres a good scrub down. Washed them, foamed them up and sprayed on some tyre shine. Just ****ty Wilko's £2 stuff. Complete ****e but they look better than before lol. I need to get some proper tyre gel I think.

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Just a small update. Got my tweeters in the post yesterday from a guy off another forum.

The door handle covers needed some modification to allow them to fit but with a patient process involving a stanley knife I finally managed to get both of the holes large enough to house the tweeters.

Bit of a bodge but they don't look too bad

Pretty happy with my interior now to be honest. Some real leathers would be nice but I can't really afford them and I tried undoing the bolts on my front seats before and they definitely weren't going anywhere

    Anyway, some pics:

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Found quite a good photo spot at an industrial estate nearby but it would appear as though my camera is sh*t at night, my photography skills are limited when I'm pushed for time and the car is dirty and in dire need of a polish lol...

Should have my blue LED rear foglight and headlight switches at the end of next week.

Also ordered some Bonnet Struts yesterday.

Just a quick pic taken a couple of days ago...

Got a replacement rear bumper delivered today. Not in amazing condition but better than what I currently have. Heat gunned it, then gave it a real quick wipe down with some baby wipes.

Will wash, clay, polish and wax it properly at some point when I do the rest of the car.

    Before:

    After:

Much better Brings it all together and makes the car look much tidier as opposed to all of that dodgy colour coding and flakey paint in my opinion.

Plans now look something like this:
    • Fit bonnet struts
    • Fit LED switches
    • Black hammerite the heatshield
    • Black hammerite the battery tray
    • Blue hammerite the calipers
    • Give wheels another coat of white
    • Wash, clay, polish and wax

    Ooo what have we here???

All interior lights are now Blue or White LEDs. Finally have an LED rear foglight switch, headlight switch and beam adjustment switch

Chrome bonnet gas struts came yesterday too but I accidentally ordered Nova ones. They're much shorter than Corsa ones so don't fit. Going to exchange them for the right ones though

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Got a few small things done a couple of days ago, nothing major.

The rubber tube that runs from the screenwash bottle to the front washer jets had split where it connected to the screenwash bottle. So I had to remove the windscreen wipers, scuttle panel and various other parts to get access to that. Removed the screenwash bottle and gave it a quick clean and sorted out the split.

Don't have any before or during pictures.

Gave the pollen filter a quick clean whilst I had access to it. Also while everything was off I gave the underneath all a clean, had to get the Henry involved due to all of the leaves and crap that get stuck in there!

Also gave the scuttle panel a quick clean and then heat gunned it.

As you can see from the bonnet in that last pic, the car was an absolute state. Absolutely caked in dust as the road I live on has just been resurfaced plus a house nearby is having some major building work done on it.

So I gave the car a good wash and polish yesterday...

Also gave the inside a good clean and hoover...

Weather dependent, I'm planning on giving the engine bay a bit of a tidy tomorrow and I aim to give the heat shield and battery tray a lick of black hammerite while I'm at it.

Fitted some chrome bonnet struts yesterday and removed the old bonnet holder. Still haven't got round to cleaning the engine bay though!

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Haven't updated in a while. Not loads has happened.

Gave the heat shield and battery tray a quick lick of hammerite.

    Got some new number plates.

Car passed its MOT for the 2nd year running with no advisories Had the Cambelt and Water Pump changed though as the Water Pump was on its way out. A friend's Dad did the MOT and other work, only cost £120 Runs much quieter now.

Replaced the front wiper arms as the old ones were a bit loose and would slap about against the scuttle panel and the edge of the windscreen.

I also noticed I have a small leak coming from the top rad hose. It only leaks ever so slightly when the engine gets hot in traffic but the pink residue was enough for me to just get a new hose for the sake of a tenner.

Got a free horn to replace the Stebel Nautilus that broke within its warranty period. Stebel have stopped trading so I've been sent a Wolo BadBoy instead, basically exactly the same.

Will get it wired up sometime this week, will also be getting a post 97 bumper tomorrow and a slatted debadged grille is on the cards. Other plans for the week include changing the hose, oil and oil filter.

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Installed the new horn the other day. When I had the Stebel Nautilus I just wired it directly to the old horn wiring, not the way you're supposed to do it! So I thought with this one I'd do everything properly.

I started with mounting a bracket to the horn:

With the Stebel Nautilus I attached it behind the bumper near to where the normal horn goes and the elements got to it pretty quickly and it broke after only about 6 months! So this time around I found somewhere nice and dry and sheltered to install it...behind the battery

Here's the setup I used for wiring it in:

So firstly I setup up the earth:

Then the horn +ve to the relay:

Then I removed the old horn and connected the wiring to the relay:

I added a 20amp fuse in the wire going from the relay to the +ve terminal on the car battery:

And then it was all complete, albeit very messy:

    Very sheltered and hidden:

Quick tidy up with some cable ties and job done :

Got a new post 97 front bumper from karisma_corsa. Old one off:

New one ready to go on:

Also did an oil and oil filter change:

Place to drain the old oil into :

    Removed the old leaky hose:

State of the pipe was horrendous. Very gunky and generally ****:

Gave it a good going over with a wire brush and some wet and dry to clean it up. Flushed the water system with the hose pipe until everything ran through clear, then fitted new hose:

Have since added 2 litres of Halfords advanced antifreeze. Here are a few pictures with the new bumper on. Car is in dire need of a wash, hasn't been done in a few months! Obviously it is also in need of a grille, just waiting for that to arrive in the post :

Also, here's the girlfriend's new car. Vauxhall Corsa 1.3cdti Ltd. Edition:

    I want it

Much better now. Just needs that wash I've been meaning to give it!

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Picked up an Omega wiper stalk that has the variable intermittent wiper wheel and features rear wiper control too. This only came on some estate models as the saloon didn't have a rear wiper. Gave it a really good clean with a baby wipe. Pretty manky really lol.

    Then got it wired in.

Tutorial here for anyone that's interested.

Fan belt had been a bit squeaky lately so I put it on my list of things to change...then before I had the chance it snapped :faceplam: Got it replaced the next day though.

The other night I took my centre console and MFD apart ready for an update later on this week I went further than I needed to in terms of dismantling, but I get carried away sometimes in wanting to find out how all the little bits work and go together lol. All I needed to get was the MFD cover and Centre Console cover lol.

Going to make a couple of changes to the heater dial insert too. Got a few scraps of vinyl that I'll have a play with.

I also noticed when removing everything that the MFD loom had been getting squashed behind the centre console where it connects with the fan vent funnel bit. So I wrapped it up in some insulation tape where the foam had got shagged, and then redirected it around the funnel.

Put everything back together, this is how it will stay for the rest of the week.

Turned the ignition on and got blinded lol. Didn't realise the LEDs were quite this bright. I've now temporarily removed them for obvious reasons.

Got back to Uni on Sunday so no more driving around the country lanes in Devon. Therefore before I left I had a good excuse to wash the car Sorry for some of the bad photos, the first few were taken when it was getting dark.

A couple of before and afters:

A few more taken in better light

A new air freshener I got for Christmas lol.

And I noticed that coincidentally these photos are identical...apart from different mods obviously. A lot of changes in 17 months!

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

When I fitted the tweeters to the door handle covers I only bodged them and held them in with velcro as it was only meant to be temporary...well that was back in June last year lol.

I've finally got round to installing them properly though. Picked up a dremel from work for free as they were going to throw it out. Not sure why as it works perfectly!

Here's how the holes were left last time, a bit hacked with a Stanley knife and not big enough for the front part of the tweeter cover.

Here it is after having a go at it with the dremel, much better finish.

    Covers on:

    Fitting to the car:

    Before and after:

    Got some flocked bits

Couldn't recommend the guy who did them enough, top work, top service and great price. I want more bits done now!

Oh and excuse the mashed up dash around the CD player, a retard who owned the car before me obviously didn't know how to remove the stereo properly.

I've also got some SMD bulbs for my rear lights and reverse lights. Much better now but don't have any pics of them fitted, will try to remember to get some tonight.

    Comments welcome

    Robin.

Re: Atlantis Blue 1.4 5DR Corsa

Quick couple of pics of the old standard bulb vs. the SMD bulb:

They were taken in slightly different light and so the difference is actually greater than it shows. Bit more reassuring now that I know people should see me properly in the dark!

Also, I had a play around with some vinyl scraps today. Thoughts? I really like it, livens it up a bit

nice bit of work mate, reckon a nice set of 16 inch steel wheels would look real good and fill the wheel arches out properly, glad to see a project where the aim is to keep the car sensible for day to day use

Yeah some larger steelies would look good but funds dictate what I can and can't do and it's just not going to happen lol. Thanks for the comment though.

All the LEDs came from crazyleds.co.uk. Update below shows some new SMDs I got from them too.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Acoustic cloth, spray adhesive, SMDs and new tweeters:

Left one SMD right one LED:

    Both SMD:

    Before with backlit LEDs:

Now with backlit SMDs (Don't overpower the plasma dials as much as the picture makes them out to):

White SMDs behind the heater/fan controls (light is actually white, picture shows it more yellow):

    Map lights with SMDs:

Only got the driver's door wrapped in acoustic cloth so far, looks much better than standard though:

    Standard heater dials in:

Some new aero front wiper blades:

New headlight bulbs. Now that both headlamp cluster bushings are in and the bulbs have been replaced the beams are far more level.

Definitely need to change my brake fluid:

    Bought the following too:

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Had been meaning to get a dash camera for a while, good little piece of kit. Image quality isn't great but it shows enough.

    Changed the spark plugs:

    Cylinder 1:

    Cylinder 2:

    Cylinder 3:

    Cylinder 4:

    Old vs. New:

    Gently loosened old ones:

Hand removed old ones and hand tightened new ones:

    Torqued up to 25Nm:

Noticed a couple of days ago the car had lost some oil. Checked underneath and there was a small leak around the sump plug. The whole sump looks a bit oily though so I'll be bringing an oil change forward and replacing the gasket and plug/washer while I'm at it. I checked the torque of the sump plug and it was ever so slightly loose, so I've tightened it to 55Nm (only about a quarter turn from where it was) and I'll see if that prevents it from leaking any more - unlikely from such a small amount of tightening.

    Bought the following:

    Halfords | Castrol Magnatec 10W40 A3 B4 Oil 4 Litre

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Is it necessary to use gasket sealant for the sump gasket and thread lock for the sump bolts?

Also bought four new tyres (Firestone Multihawk) with fitting and balancing included. Will be getting them put on on Saturday.

These just turned up today. Bloody quick delivery, only ordered them yesterday!

    This also arrived today:

The power has been off all day in my flat so I've been unable to do any Uni work...perfect opportunity to go the scrappies I thought! Spent around 3 hours down there getting everything I could think of lol. They didn't have everything I was after but I've picked up a few bits I wasn't planning on getting plus a few extras to sell.

    All washed up:

Bits I'll be keeping for my car:

    1x Tigra coin tray

    Black rear door handles/pockets:

    Black rear door handle covers:

    Black window winders:

    Black rear door trim:

Post 97 boot lock surround (paint on my one is flaking badly):

Map light (think it was out of a Vectra):

    Corsa C gear knob:

I don't like the Corsa C bobbly rubber knob, prefer the Corsa B leather one so I set about swapping just the top bit over.

    Pretty grimey:

    Nice and clean:

Back together with Corsa C top bit on Corsa B knob:

Didn't require any modification whatsoever, just a straight swap and looks much nicer in my opinion.

Also fitted the new courtesy light. Before:

    After:

Will probs fit a few more of the little things to the car tomorrow.

    Cheers.

Lots of neat wee touches on this car. You really are doing a great job cleaning it up.

Shame you sold the softstars though, it looked cracking with them and lowered.

Haha if I had a pound for every time someone said that I'd be a very rich man lol. It did look good but due to budget shocks it just wasn't comfortable...and 15" wheels with standard suspension looks daft in my opinion, so the softstars had to go too.

If/when I can afford a better suspension setup then I may consider lowering it again but for the time being it's staying as it is.

Did a few small things the other day.

Got the wiper stalk swapped over, here's the difference between them (new one on the bottom):

Swapped my damaged bootlock surround for a standard one:

Got two new clamps for when I fit the Cav RARB:

Changed all of the rear door plastics to black and the front door window winders too.

Got these in the post this morning

Got a new aerial. Old one:

Got a black one to replace it which looks much better, but the connector piece is too long Will take it into the Uni workshop at some point and trim it down with a hacksaw so the aerial sits flush with the base. Could probably do with a new rubber seal as well lol.

Just fitted the flocked door handles:

    And the headunit surround; before:
