i have a small racing battery already, varley jobbie, probably around 4/5 kg, so its not too big, but if it ever gives up i would look at the lithium ones

I will be saving 7 kgs in total along with the new battery, because my new data logger is only 240g compared to over 1kg for the old metal unit

With me, I normally use a Jump battery pack to start the engine, once moving the alternator keeps the car battery charging.

Good if you want to save weight, how heavy is a normal road based battery? 15kgs? so you would save a fair bit of weight.

F3 cars are amazing, but they are almost twice the price for an 02-04 spec. I would not go back to a H pattern box after driving a sequential. Work commitments meant I missed the opening rounds, and we are still behind on getting the car ready. Got a test in a few weeks.

They are not cheap, but well worth it from the weight savings point of view.

They are new to cars, but they have used them on Track based Caterhams with 1.8 and 2.2 engines.

You can get the prices from their website:

Havent had much time to post of late as I was busy getting the car fixed after a suspension failure at Snetterton a few weeks ago.. As I didnt get much running in the car, I offered my car to a friend of mine to drive at Brands Hatch this weekend and as he is an experienced racer he certainly helped out in giving good feedback to iron out the issues in the car.

In the race he made up some 7 places to come home with a second place behind a F3 car with some 40 bhp more.

Im fed up with the politics in that club, theres a lot of vested interests which is why the F3 cars are being favoured.... This guy is much better than me, so I dont think I will beat him anytime soon lol

    More updates and polictics here:

I got fed up with the club comittee making us run the car with 30-40 bhp less than the F3 cars, so we removed the restrictor to make a point.. the other guy cracked under pressure and took 4 corners off his car..

So they want you to compete against better tyres (budget), aero' setup and a 20% power deficit because they feel a small increase in mid-range (which is little used anyway as you'd simply select a lower gear)? How do weights compare?
Why not simply allow you to run unrestricted but with the variable timing locked out?
I've seen cheque books and targeted restrictions occur in other sports - funny how even with that, a poor driver still has to find excuses.

In your position, I'd probably just race in Europe instead.
