Not much of an update really. nova hasnt had a look in since mid december. Took it for a blast down to beuliea motor museum which was a good day out. (Gave a mk5 GTi a hard time on the way home too)
Been spending most of my time moving into the new unit.
Plus bought this which im hoping wont get in the way too much. It was a bargain, and a genuine champion so i couldnt really turn it down.
Really want to track the nova again this summer with the 8v in but not sure yet if i will or not.

whats your plans for the champ?, my friend has a burgundy colour one in his garage it has a let in itlol
mk3 gsi c20let BADGER spec build, http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/proje...dger-spec.html
Not a lot really. Going to do the arches and O/s sill, Paint down both sides and bonnet then maybe just tuck it away for nice days.
I didnt really think it through. But its worth more in bits than i payed for it anyway
liking the nova how did it run on the bike carbs?and loving the old champ,![]()
ah craig you wont break it you are already very much in love with the old girl!![]()

Thanks. Its an Opel Kadett GSi champ. Imported in sept 1993.
Nova ran extremely well. Its actually back on bike carbs now anyway. I borrowed them off the guy i sold them too so it could go to the TV photoshoot, then instead of giving them back i bought them back!
A lot of people here have seen it on track at castle combe and should vouch for it. I was very lucky though. Made the manifold and set it all up myself then never had a problem other than the odd fuel leak . Almost seemed too easy.
Yea i think it must have been a sqauddie based in west germany.... Specced in RHD.
With the carbs Id say do it. But dont spend too much money. get some cheap carbs off ebay and if you cant knock one up yourself get someone else to make you a manifold. The whole "bike carbs" thing is meant to be cheap tuning, but some people are spending over £700 which is mental.
My whole setup came in at just £75. and when i sold it / bought it back it was for £120 which is what i consider it to be worth.
cool sounds good,
you done well for doin the setup for so cheap,
yeah i got the carbs for 50 quid so havent spent to much on the setup, just getting the engine rebuilt for them to take the r1 carbs,so hoping to have it running nice and smooth with a fair power increase and torque,
Went out and bought this last week. Debating wether to put it in the nova or not.

Vauxhall Astra Van 1.7DTi- T22 JFF
Pre-Facelift Vauxhall Cavalier SRi - J551 AHJ
Thanks, Its a perk of my job, always scanning the classifieds and breakers yards.
Just had these arrive yesterday. Shouldnt have bought them really but they came up for less than half the retail price so snapped them up
They are 2 ring 12.5-1 for the xe i have. so im still very undecided on what engine to use in it. At least now i have the choice of a highly tuned XE or a standard Let.

Pistons looking top notch!
Yeah they are works of art!
Decided now not to bother with the Let so will either put it up for sale or put it in the astra.
After all the work that will be going into the xe i thought it a bit backwards to fit the dellorto 45's. So instead will be selling them on. Went out today and bought this little lot.
Jenvey 45mm short bodies, with omex 600 ecu and dedicated loom...... Chuffed to bits with it.
Thinking i might fit them to the 8v for this years trackdays, then maybe build the xe slowly.
looks good in TV, Need to read feature tho![]()
Thanks, I got a text earlier but still havent seen it.... Im a peasent so have to wait until it hits the shelves.
Anyone more updates?great nova mate
Ah that looks like constuctive progresion to meall adds up in the end tho,and can't wait to you get that banging xe in the nova for other reasons

Small update. Nova currently sits with no tax, No MOT and only 1 weeks insurance left
However, my renewal came through this week and has only gone up from £250 to £305 so im not complaining
Bought some more bits for the XE. Brand new piper double springs, Steel caps and slimline stem seals.... Still more to buy though.
Just read full thread car looks awesome mate brilliant work keep it up
Thanks, I went through it the other night and its a pretty good read. Suprising how quickly it came together really as i was just finishing it one year ago.
Still preparing for the summers events, so bought a set of half worn Dunlop Direzza's today.... They were cheap so got to be worth a punt. Plan is to fit them on whichever wheels clear the 4 pots best, then carry them to the track on road tyres.
Had a better head delivered today for the Xe.
It was complete luck, I took a punt on it only because it was sold as a complete top end with an inlet, powercap etc that i could re-sell.
£50 and it turned out to have a nice port job with some bonus Kent 1612's in. Its actually even better than my previous worked one so will use this one on the xe instead now.
Not a lot of work done on the chambers, but still nicely polished
