Ronnie's New Family Car - Vectra Gsi Estate

so from one thread leads to another, i recently sold my Cavalier GSI2000 as the boot just really wasnt big enough to be a proper family car

Ronnie's New Family Car - Cavalier GSI :)

i knew i wanted something good looking, estate, and fairly lively, so the search went on for a facelift vectra gsi estate, and trumps came up and i found one, wnt and picked it up sunday evening it is in mint condition and completly origional, i couldnt of hoped for a better find

was hoping to give it a good was and polish to start the thread with, but great british weather didnt agree with that lmao

the interior is in just as mint condition as the exterior

the boot has a load tray which will be very usefulll for me

and the carpet underneith was mint

very very happy with it its so nice driving a modern car, no rattles no noises, just smooth everything, and for a completly standard car (bar a pannel filter) it goes very well and sounds fantastic so nice to drive

this is the second car i looked at, origionally i was going to get a differnt vectra gsi estate, it was a ph1, even though i wanted a ph2, this one was fitted with a x30xe, LMF staniless tubular manifolds and downpipes, 4bar fpr, full stainless system, roose hoses, brand new coilovers, cdx hid projectors, preshly powercoated wheels. but a few days before i was going pick it up he called he to say its blow up, piston rings gone, smoke plumbing out. i was going to just fob that off and forget about it, but when the ph2 gsi came up it was only 20 mins away from this one, so spoke to the bloke and got this one for a very knocked down price i was just going to break it, but when i got there it is also in fantastic condition, mint inside and out

so got them both with the money i got for the cav result

the plan is to swap the coilovers from the ph1 to the ph2 and put the standard susprnsion on the ph1, swap the cdx projector hids over too, and the cruise control (the face lift one hasnt got CC for some reason ) sell the LMF manifolds and downpipes seperate, and put a good 2.5 i have down the unit replaceing the blown 3.0 and sell it on as a whole car

i never knew how many differences there are with the ph1 and ph2 gsi's, i thought it was differnt front bumperand wheels and colourcoded moldings and rear bumpers, but now i have both side by side there are so many differences.
outside is the obvious, differnet wheels and front bumper, colour coded mouldings, but has completely different rear bumper and boot panel and grab handle, inside the seats are differnt, carper is more fluffier, differnt dials, differnt steering wheel, chrome interior handles, sunglasses holder and differnt interior lights, so many more i cant remember lol
so glad ive got the later spec one so much more of a car

so i havent really got any big plans for it, just get in and drive, i love the look of it standard, looks spot on out of the factory, only mods i plan is to lower it a bit (coilovers from the other one) fit the hids from the other car, i would like to get hold of some electric windows for the rear, as the windey windows are so gay lol. i have got another set of VXR 321mm brakes down the unit that i got for super cheap, so may mod them to fill the wheels in time.

but at the mo i'm just enjoying driving such a nice car

Yea they're just standard gsi wheels painted with lotus centre badges.

was lucky that it worked out the cav's money paid for both cars, so will be nicely up when i sell the ph1 on as a standard car

Re: Ronnie's New Family Car - Vectra Gsi Estate

Both cracking cars mate. My Dad has one similar (only his is an auto), and that's a lovely car to drive. Handles like a smaller car. Looking forward to see how long you manage not modding, lol!!

Dude that ph1 looks bloody awesome

Ph2 is very clean but the ph1......

IMO find a set of alloys for the ph1 when you sell it and keep the black alloys
Signature not as cool as Paul's

yea i am loving it big style, so nice to drive, never fails to impress me

had a quick 5 mins today so swapped a few things over, got the ph1 in the unit

and the ph2 aswell, as it was windy out

can see how slammed the coilovers are

so a few little quick bits, the origional rear wiper

the wiper off the other estate (dunno what its off)

    and on

    and standard wipers

and lay flat wipers from the other one

and last, mine didnt have the rad panel covers

so fitted them too, much better

i plan on having a engine bay clean up sometime, polish up all the bay and gell all the plastics, and prob repaint the plenums, all standard still, just cleaner

and that reveiled the sexy tubulars on the other one

will start stripping the coilovers and headlights off in the next few days, and swap over, then start on getting the engine out
