My Mk3 Astra Track Car

Hi all

Just abit on the my track car

i will get some more pics off the old computer of the making of it asap but for now.

Its a 94 mk3 astra 1.8 16v sport

it started life as a friends and after the cambelt snaped on it he wanted get rid of it, so after abit thinking i got it for £1000 with a snaped belt, this was about 8 years ago.

This was it as i got it.



I paid the guy who i got it off £150 to put a new engine i got from a brakers yard and used it as a daily for a few years.



I then had a great idea of putting a turbo in it and started to rip it apart. then a friends said that they gona do a track day and to get the astra out!! so i set to work trying to put it back as a runner after snapping most manifold bolts off ripping it apart it wasent easy!.



but made it and it was good fun here is some pics of the day

I did do some more that year and did more to the car wheels etc then i ripped the windows fitted polycarb windows seats and belts









It has bin abit of a long project. i use it for track days and autotests, sprints and road

also i would like to say a Big thanks to a good friend Stuart Guard who had a accident at work and died. he helped me do alot of the work to the car Thaks mate!

i have got another 1.8 16v coming for it to put back in the car but do some head work cams etc this time!

Good looking car. Looks great on track. Unlucky about the engine just hope this new one serves you well. Anything else in mind apart from cams mate. Good luck with it btw

ya it was good for a 1.8 i am gona just do cams and a bit of head work to try and not push it too much! will put some rod bolts in it too.

I would most certainly get the rod bolts done, also head bolts while your at it, seems as it belongs on the track. Should go well when the cams are in. Have you chosen which ones your going for yet ??

upgrade the low conrod bolts to ARP one´s... you can get them cheap on ebay

just a quick update got a new engine this weekend 39k form new and looks mint its in bits at the mo so get it rebuilt and get it in! oh after i have done the big list of jobs first!! will get the pics up soon

ya bet a corsa will go well with a c18xe they are good engines mine was going v well befor i pushed it abit hard lol was keeping with alot of cars i think it shouldent of! lol

got the car to the unit last week and got down there tonight to start pulling the engine out!

this is the new home for the winter sorry for the poor pics off my iphone.





and noticed the manifold took abit of a beating when it went bang!!

Just a quick update

not much has bin going on this year with the car as i have flat out at work and playing with the bosses mk1 escort and running airfield test days!

i have moved units too as the place i was in dident work out. so with the car in the air and wheels off that is all that has happend :0( need to get it together so it can get back out on track.
will get some pics up of the engine out this week as i have some time off work to go play with it.
