    Corsa Booster

havent ever done a project thread on here before. mostly just read and not post up.

anyway i have had this car for quite a few years now. since about 2005 it has been a c20let. i will post up sort of the last couple of years updates in one.

used to have 200sx manifold and a cheap and cheerful ebay turbo which was alright indeed for the money. it lasted about 5-6k miles.

randomly one day just snapped the end off the shaft while driving home from tesco's so decided it was time to change some stuff around.

inlet to be replaced with some of these

and a new turbo manifold from nortech.

then started to collect some more parts for the job.

due to the way the inlet was going to go had to move the header tank. decided to remove the abs set up from the car to give more room.

whole car was re-piped without it which was a job i really enjoyed doing. then bought a turbo for it

technically an ebay turbo as thats where it was purchased from.

    fits grand

got a fitting kit, from ebay

had the standard feed pipe modified to fit

drilled take off from turbo into it as it dont have one

got external wastegate and fake aeromotive ebay fuel pressure regulator. lovely stuff

got a bit of powerflow from work for the booster screamer pipe. winner.

this was the new location to have the header tank moved to

    Re: corsa booster

starting to get a bit closer.

wastegate and turbo fitted to manifold

how the inlet pipe with dump valve was to be done

cut and adjust the header tank

header tank and inlet pipe welded to plenum

vacuum take off fitted into each throttle

    screamer and downpipe sorted

    all done.

    Re: corsa booster

had some problems with a pressure plate. and then some problems with a flywheel

ring gear could move on it. nice and dangerous

replaced it with one of them instead

used the car to transport stuff around in as it made quite a good van

twisted and snapped a drive shaft. was an mtec shaft.

fitted equal length shafts. calibra shaft fitted both sides. no modifications to anything.

    got some alloy mounts

was having some issues with gearlinkage so thought it was the bushes.

replaced with nylon ones from lmf. was slightly better for a while anyway.

got some polybushes for the front

    so fired them in

my mate jimbo from here came round and we set about messing on with boost in gears

    Re: corsa booster

well the problems i thought was the bushes in the linkage wasnt the linkage it was the engine mount.

lovely. i was only using a 2 bolt set up and not the 3 bolt like everyone will say you are supposed to.

decided to change the wheels from the speedlines ive owned since 2002 for some comp mo's

shame as i liked the speedlines.

    but also like the mo's

everything was going fine then had an oil pump failure

sorted that out then got some 2nd hand carbon door cards

looks great. left the back as wanted to sort it out a bit first

chopped and fillered over the dents from removing rear seat mount bits

ex bodywork man jimbo came round to watch and pass on helpful advice.

    primered it all up

    rattled canned like mad

    lovely stuff

then the rear door cards were fitted

managed to crack part of the casing from gearbox number 1 so had to borrow a spare

went to crail for total vauxhall day.

bust the radiator top core so twisted the ends over to stop it leaking then carried on and managed to win the shootouts which was quite nice.

then rasied the back edge of the bonnet up, which older chavs called jimbo approved of. let the warm air out and all that.

    Re: corsa booster

fitted a neverbeen sticker because i havent. and every car round here that has never left the county seems to have nurburg stickers.

mad a temporary duct to filter using a rubber inlet donut thing from a v6 ford engine. i say temporary, its like that a year later still.

removed down pipe and a boost pipe and heat wrapped them

water pipe was touching boost pipe so thought it would keep it cooler seen as i had loads of heat wrap left.

had a cardboard radio so fitted one of them ebay air temp things to it.

tried some scene camber out buy crashing into a curb

beam and balljoint sorted it a couple hours after crashing while at work instead of doing what i was supposed to be doing.

    some lovely astra wheels

got mtec 6 speed linkage, 3 bolt rear mount set up and some tie bar spacers.

this was due to gearbox number 2 having issues with the 2 bolt mount set up

cracked the mount off the casing. luckily gearbox 1 had been repaired.

so got fitted with new 3 bolt mount. so far had no problems since.

    Re: corsa booster

was missing a bit of sideskirt since its crash so got some 2nd hand ones and got busy with the rattle cans

got some 2nd hand gaz coilovers and a white line rear anti roll bar

really did handle a bit better. could feel difference.

had pic in total vauxhall from when wont the shootouts. great stuff and a handsome looking chap indeed.

drove it about in the ice and snow for a bit over winter. it managed to get up hills that a lot of other cars couldnt. suprising really. then started getting some other bits to do things with in the coming months.

    Re: corsa booster

broke part the gear stick possibly due to being rough.

decided to paint the rear drums, as i am quite happy to show off power drums.

parked next to jimbo's vxr vectra

    broke the front bumper

    got some of them

    and an ebay alloy radiator

make it very easy to take bumper off indeed.

moved oil cooler to fit radiator in

    cut some speed holes

    hard as nails

mate machined down the arb spacer blocks as i had ran car without it for a while but wanted ti back on again.

attempted to clean the back box for the first time in 4 years

my mate from work has the amazing rusty corsa. i dont get it.

went to york for the day

mates drank beer while i kept missing 2nd gear

got a new oil breather filter as i lost mine.

    Re: corsa booster

and this is pretty much it for now

its come on ok over the last couple of years. last couple of things ive done are below

trimmed and re-fitted the door cards

used the left overs to make a gearknob bit as i smashed the 6 speed insert a while back

    made a radio blanking bit

moved wideband gauge to driver side heater vent

seeing as the clock hasnt worked for ages put a blank in there aswell

going to fit a taller and deeper intercooler to it at some point shortly.

thanks very much for looking hope it hasnt been all that terrible. any comments feel free to say anything.

    Re: corsa booster

i was led to believe they were as well. Ring gear was close to coming off. 2 different materials heating and cooling at different rates really. Over time just worked its way slack. Replacement is machined 1 piece so a lot better although a couple kg heavier.

I am amazed by what you have done and if thats only a shortened progress thread i dread the full one ahaa. Pleasure reading that pal, you have given me some much needed motivation i no longer need to buy some off ebay ahaa. I was reading the little write up in total vauxhall magazine last night funny enough, this is throwing out over 400 bhp aint it iirc.

By the way where did you get the grey exhaust heat wrap from, im after grey one but can only seem to find natural, white and black ??
