havent ever done a project thread on here before. mostly just read and not post up.

anyway i have had this car for quite a few years now. since about 2005 it has been a c20let. i will post up sort of the last couple of years updates in one.

used to have 200sx manifold and a cheap and cheerful ebay turbo which was alright indeed for the money. it lasted about 5-6k miles.

randomly one day just snapped the end off the shaft while driving home from tesco's so decided it was time to change some stuff around.

inlet to be replaced with some of these

and a new turbo manifold from nortech.

Re: corsa booster

got on with clutch on corsa today

up on ramp make it easier

vxr james painted some tie bars while drinking fosters

box out

where clutch is normally riveted together, due to shearing them, bolted it together about a year ago. its snapped one of the bolts. they were m6 so gone for m8 this time

vxr james had finished painting so got the car put back together with repaired clutch version 2 fitted

his painting looks great like powdercoated almost.

car works again. so thats the good news.

Re: corsa booster

after clutch was fixed went to crail for scottish street car day

lost in the final to alland from here as i snapped the throttle cable changing into 4th. had issues with 2nd gear all day wont go in unless change at low revs. synchro on its way out id say. best run was a 12.3 @ 110 when i missed 5th gear. never mind.

sure there is supposed to be something else at the end of that.

then got rid of the powerflex bushes in favour of some stiffer ones from rally design. jimbo's paintwork is almost like powder coating.

changed some spark plugs

then went for a rolling road day at performance hq in fife which is the dastek place.

figure is at the wheels and tested in 5th, so you can make your own views up to what flywheel power it is. it did actually pull a 432 at the wheels aswell today just not got a print out.

so 2 sets of rollers seen over 500bhp at 1.5 bar at flywheel. must be real **** mapping that eh? dodgy rollers etc etc etc

Re: corsa booster

it is yep. clutch repairs so far holding up. the thinner bolts lasted a year last time so hopefully get a bit longer out of these.

vid of them trying to get it to read on rollers. rolling road was opperated by russ patton who some of you may know from mk2 astra at ten of the best couple of years ago, now drives an evo in time attack. real nice bloke indeed.

Re: corsa booster

bought some alpines as they had some 2nd hand pirelli cut slicks on and they were going cheap.

i plan to do some corners soon, and a set of 4 toyo or yoko's are fairly expensive for what will be a crap car round bends, so these will do.

quite amazed that they clear the reyland 4 pot set up. most 15's dont seem to unless motorsport etc. thats why it has 15" mo's on it normally. grand job indeed.

Re: corsa booster

pedal stop welded on to stop the pedal going too far and snapping the cables like its been doing

fire extinguisher for those "just in case" moments

discovered the alpines wouldnt actually clear the brakes and would involve far too much caliper grinding so had the front pirelli cut slicks fired on to some other mo's

went for some local drag racing. gearbox still knackered so still having to short it into 2nd. corsa got a few 12.3 and 12.4 and a few 131mph's yet struggled to grip really. span over line some races. not ideal. jdm mk1 v6 escort ran a 13.7. mates civic saloon got a 15.7

so had some issues with wheel wobble under hard acceleration. checked and changed loads of stuff. last up was to remove the spacers from the front. took wheel off and found something interesting.....

basically someone has hacked the centre bore to ****. there was lumps all over the place. meant the wheel wasnt actually pulling up centrally on the hub so not running true at all. that will be why i never noticed it on the other wheels...............

ground caliper so wheels fit on without spacer nicely. dremelled the centre of the wheel so it would actually fit in the centre. needs machined properly has a quote of about 30 per wheel to have centres done. will have to get it done.

then got some new tyres for the back as one had a flat spot in and lowered it a touch on the back also.

finally got some parts for the exhaust that im having re done. fitting a centre box in and getting the wastegate piped back into the downpipe instead of to the floor. this is for track day in a few weeks.

YouTube - adam vs fire

my mate drove his tractor over a fire.

thanks.

Re: corsa booster

track day db friendly time

radiator and intercooler off. can see wastegate pipe there. basically just points at the floor.

start to re-shape it towards the downpipe

all tacked, ready to be tig'd up

put some new zip ties on the fan. far better than the stupid kits that come with them fans. zip ties for the win.

jdm cracked on with the tig

tack it on to the down pipe ready to remove the lot and finish the welding on it

if you notice in that pic, tried to angle the wastegate back in at the same point where the exhaust itself has a slight bend in it. thinking this would help reduce any flow issues as it pretty much points directly straight into the flow of the downpipe already.

lovely stuff. like a giant tuba.

got amongst it with some heat wrap. wear gloves.

next up was chop away for the centre box

some vband flanges tig'd onto the centre box

one centre box fitted etc

also made what jap people would call a "spoon B pipe"

this is incase i want to make it a bit louder in the future.

the jdm is getting alright at that tig stuff.

car is definitely a bit quieter. also under boost it sounds totally different. can actually hear that dump valve working, and also the air getting sucked through filter.

Re: corsa booster

Only problem I can see is that where the screamer re joins you've put it next to either the lamba or wideband sensor which when on boost could potentially give you doggy readings :-(
Had a thought about that at the time couldnt think of it causing any issues though could be wrong but appears to be fine so far
