Talking Corsa B C14SE SRI rep

Just bought my new car: a 1993 Corsa SRI rep with a C14SE engine.
bought it off my mate, Dan, and his thread for it is here

its got a standard C14SE, with a 4 branch manifold (which dan bought of me and now i've had it back lmao) and a full stainless system and decat
other than that its just lowered 40mm, 256mm brakes and an SRI interior/spoiler/side strips

    piccys

its currently on odd wheels (15" white steelies on the front) as he just found me 4 with legal tread, gotta give the steelies back soon so first on the agenda is some new rims, (may be sorted already i'll keep you posted) and some sticky rubber to wrap them in

also need a speedo cable as its broke which puts the MIL on anyone know how hard they are?

then it just needs a general tidy up ready for PV and Billing

looks pretty tidy, saw the other thread on it a while ago and looks like all the hard works already been done any other plans for it? i dont think the speedo cables are too hard to do to be honest, may be just a case of clocks out and then pull the cable through the bulk head and thread the new one back through its hole ?? might be easy but ive never done one lmao

Re: Corsa B C14SE SRI rep

yeah dan did all the work to get it through its MOT, and painted the engine and the bay so thats a bonus =)
short term plans for it are coilovers, and compomotive MOs, and in the long run i'm gonna get a spare C14SE engine and rebuild it for next year, aiming for 110-120 bhp from it, with R1 carbs, mega jolt, newman 290 degree cam, and some major headwork =D

needs a few other little bits for it like a boot lock, gear stick, and an OS wing as the paints gone a bit funny. anyone got a caribic blue wing?

cant wait to get it to pod and biling

Nice to see someone else going down the 8v route mate. And nice to see you sticking by the 1400 engine. With the mods you have planned i cant see why you cant hit your target. Keep up the work will keep an eye on this.

Re: Corsa B C14SE SRI rep

little update, bought some wheels off the bay of E, not tellin what they are yet, but they look damn good should be here monday/tuesday

heres it is with the current odd wheels lol

first real job was to fix the boot lock, as it was a bit busted like

er, yeah lol cable ties and a nut FTL got a new one from the scrappy, complete with key so wopped that in and not have a functional boot lock beats climbing over tha back seats to open it lol

now spot the flaw with this gear stick

been cut down about 4 inches it makes for a nice short shift, but means you cant use the reverse inhibitor block so makes it a twat for finding first in a hurry. got a new one from the scrappy too, complete with lift up mechanism, and a leather gear knob.

and the price of all those bits? nothing i know the guy who owns the scrappy and hes sound

    that is all

Re: Corsa B C14SE SRI rep

I've not done alot today, just re-attatched the missing arch spatt, so it now looks a little less unloved

Oh, and my Compomotives arrived too

unwrapped them and had a look
    and the offset is:

    ET10

I'm not happy at all, as the seller simply said they were 6jx15 vauxhall fitment, so as he's not stated a different offset, you would expect them to be ET49ish

    ET49:

    ET10:

    reckon they will rub? lmao

oh well, i've asked him for a refund, if he wont play nicely then i'll get ebay involved.
so i'm looking for a new set of wheels now, has anyone got some cesaros for sale?

    that is all

Ahh mate i would not be happy with that either, how far away is he from you. I would stick with vauxhall wheels mate that way you cant go wrong. Dont let it get you down though mate, head up

hes about 70 odd miles away, he posted them, so he can pay to have them posted back too, and refund my original postage lmao i reckon i'll get some cesaros, or if they prove too elusive, then some tigra 5 spokes. my slabs never gave me any problems, vaux rims ftw
    cheers fella

Re: Corsa B C14SE SRI rep

why? they were sold under the pretence that they would fit a vauxhall. an ET10 wheel will not fit a vauxhall. therefore, he lied

Re: Corsa B C14SE SRI rep

found my astra tailored floor mats, so decided to see if they would fit in the corsa, and they did =) WIN

also I hate the camel piss yellow bulbs in the MFD, so had a root around in the garage and found 2 blue LEDs, so wopped them in

also disconnected the grey/red wire to keep the date displayed with the radio on. the result

also pulled the ghey old steering wheel off...

...and put my leather calibra one on. much comfier

also noticed that my drivers side pre-tensioner has fired. bad times

    that is all

They'd fit my Mk1 cavalier fine with that offset, would fill the arches nice. So they would fit a vauxhall.

I agree with steve, you should have asked what the Offset was.

Dont think that pretensioner has gone off mate, the yellow tab comes right out if it does IIRC

if the pretensioner had gone off it would of pulled the buckle down and it would be lower than the passenger side one, if it has then someone has made a tidy job of cutting the flag off lmao

cheers mate i was gutted when i saw the offset. this is the secomd time this has happened to me lmao i'm beginning to think that comps dont like me lmao

the bulbs in the clock are a piece off piss, just prise the middle 2 blower vents out, and there are 2 screws behind them, then pull the clock up and unplug. then the 2 bulbs are just a bayonet fit in the back. you can do the speedo too, it requires the cowling and a few other bits and bobs taken out, i'll be doing that at the weekend so i'll post here and let you know. and you can get all sorts of colours mate, inc white clicky

if, you wanna make the date stay on your clock with the radio on, then cut/disconnect the red/grey wire before you put it back

yeah its a good little trick. but dont do what i did, and cut the brown/red wire by accident, cos then it keeps forgetting the time lmao
