    Re: Astravan Pickup....

As promised some piccies of the single wiper scuttle build...
    Before...

Then cut a piece to fill in the hole...

Cut a piece to fill the gap...

    Glued in place...

    Added a curved bit...

Then filled and sanded, sprayed a gloss guide coat on to help with the final finish...

Once that is okay I will spray the whole thing in some textured paint and a matt black finish.

    Cheers

    Ta!
As the grilles that I transplanted did not line up, I thought I would blank the slot out to look less awkward.
A bit more filling an sanding and some filler primer...

Just need to use some stopper for the odd blemish then its ready for the final finish...

Forgot to say I need to add a hole for the fixing screw, should be straight forward once I have the correct place to drill.

Not a great deal to report, made some vents to go behind the cab back window and did some prep work on the front headlight surrounds...

I cut them out of the side of an old PC case. All my friends give me their old computers as I can recycle the metal and other bits. Want not, waste not.

Yes, not as quick as I had hoped. I am desperate to get a popup gazebo so I can still work in bad weather or poor light.... That is why I had been getting on with some shed based tasks in the dry!

Done some stripping of the donor car...

Got the van to start with the fuel pipes stuck in a jerry can, but didn't run long as there was too much air in the system. First time it has run for at least 4-5 years!
    Cheers.

    Re: Astravan Pickup....

Been a bit hectic to say the least, need to get stuff done round the house and not neglect the kids. Bit of a tricky balancing act. Not having a covered workspace is the worst part though as getting covers on and off each time I want a quick tinker puts me off doing small jobs.
I will have to make a decision to carry on or let it go soon, but I hope it won't come to that...
    Cheers for looking.

Sorry folks, the lack of garage has really bitten hard this summer (or whatever it should be called) and so not a lot been done. Had lots of other stuff going on, but I am determined to get back on with it...

    Re: Astravan Pickup....

Cheers... I have actually done something at last!
Made a frame to cover in plastic DPM to cover the back over winter, as last year's attempt has pretty well disintegrated!

Then I thought I should do some work off the car that is not as weather critical, so building up the rear bumper seemed likea good idea.

As the tailgate will be welded up and made seamless there is no need for a cutout in the bumper for it to open through. So the top of the saloon bumper makes a nice filler piece. So some builder's band and screws were put into action...

Then some door wedges to get the swage line to line up...

Then another bit of band screwed in to hold it level...

I then had a go at plastic welding for the first time in ages. Got some of it joined in, but as the weather was closing in I didn't get any piccies, but I should get some more when I next do some work on it...

    Thanks for looking...
