What is the difference in weight then between the pot and flat flywheel. What engines do the flats come in, will be much better getting a lighter flywheel it will pick up a lot lot quicker mate.

    thanks for the nice comments,

liam1805- the flat type flywheel come on the 2 litre 8 valve engines and its a few kilo's difference in weight between the two i think
balsak- yh i saw your project log a while back and enjoyed the read, it made me want to do mine
    johnhara1- cheers mate

Its a pleasure bud, as for cooling i would suggest getting a radiator from a corsa b pick up dont know if u have them there by you its the same
size as the normal corsa fan just twice as thick and it sit alot more forward into your bumper making it ideal for clearing the branches and if
    u wana turbo later

no mate we havent got corsa pickups over here but i would love to have one or even a corsa estate at the moment its going to be running with the standard radiator as i have heard they are sufficient for what i want, at some point i may upgrade it too a diesel radiator as they are a bit bigger

Re: Corsa B X20XEV - My First Project

I would get a 8v flywheel for sure then, it will pick up much quicker, a few kilos dont seem much but it means a lot to the engine haa. Ive heared the normal radiators are capable of a lot more anyway. My mate for instance runs his 1.4 radiator with his c20xe and its never been a problem for him mate.

I hate the way the radiators sit on the angle, is there a way to slot it under the slam panel then as id be doing that for sure.

Finally haa. Get cracking with it now and update us mate. You know with the x20xev engine mate isit possible to use a ECU off a c20xe to eliminate immobiliser problems.

I know its been done with a x18xe using a c18xe ECU to eliminate it.

good project mate, will be subscribing to this one as im planning on doing my own xev conversion this spring. What belt set up are you going to use? I want to try and keep the wide belt set up if i can as i want to keep the air conditioning on my conversion :S.

If i was you i would definantly fit the 8v flywheel + clutch set up before you fit it in the car. Will be good peace of mind to know you got a new clutch in too as its gearbox out job to replace.

cheekyalex - cheers mate, im not sure what belt setup im going to be running yet but will propably be a wide belt setup as im trying to keep my hydralic powersteering what car you going to be doing yours on? im a bit low on money at the moment so dont know if i can afford a 8v flywheel/clutch setup just yet, but will put one on at some point, my main objective is to get it running at the minute then do that sort of thing later, not to bothered about taking it too bits again

liam1805 - yh the plan is too get the engine in once i have sorted out a few little bits like fuel lines etc

alright mate, i fitted a C18XE to a mates corsa sport last year. you'll need to use the single v pulley off a carlton 2.0 c20ne, and its alternator and brackets, just swap the top bracket (the slide one) upside down. as for the c20xe ecu, it wont fit or run the x20xev as the plugs are different. i used the corsa heater pipes, trimmed a bit, and an astra ecotec rad top hose and the corsa bottom one. if you get a sport with ac coolant radiator its the biggest and best for the job. wiring the engine is easy as its a case of snipping the black plug off the old 1.4 loom and soldering it to the xev loom. if you get stuck mate, im only in hull so close nuff to help.

Re: Corsa B X20XEV - My First Project

Im fitting mine to a 16v corsa sport. The plan is to make a bracket for the aircon pump and ditch the hydraulic power steering for an epas system. If you want to keep your 'wet' power steering then there is a readily availible bracket for using your power steering pump for xe conversions, im guessing it will fit the xev too but not 100% on that.

As the cluch was already knackerd on mine it made sense to get an 8v flywheel as new clutches are about £20 cheaper for the 8v ,

sounds like a good idea mate retaining your aircon, my original idea was to use epas but i though i might aswell retain the 'wet' system instead of ripping it all out, more hassle in my eyes changing it all

yh ive seen them conversion brackets, i dont see any reason why it shouldnt fit, only thing is i dont know where it is suppose to me mounted lmao

U can run the wide belt setup in a corsa u just have to hammer or cut away part of your frame skin or smack it with a hammer, xe and xev blocks are the same minor differences so you will be able to use the bracket

its easier to use the single v setup, as tensioning the pas and alt setup is tricky due to the corsa conversion mount. if you can find one, a carlton cdx with ac and pas will have either a 90 amp or 110 amp alt. if you go for epas, and run just tha alt on multi v, you need to alter your chassis leg where the alt is, as it touches. hammer or notch ala nova conversions. the pas mount is the same as the xe one that you could get from chris astley. then just use the single v pump. it mounts below the cambelt end engine mount. clean the holes with a tap and die, and use threadlock on the bolts
the corsa hoses will fit it with a little persuasion.
