    Re: Corsa B 1994

I got an engine lined up at a reasonable price. Its a x20xe 136 bhp engine. What you lot reckon about it then. Im thinking will it be quick enough as i dont know much about these engines, i have heared and read that they are very quick low end due to being a torquey engine. Are these x20xe engines the same as the c20xe engines.

Anyone got any info on this ??

Yehh I have that there's not much init bewteen both in terms of power and torque. Have also read somewhere vxr pistons, rods, injectors, manifolds fit the x20xev engine. Just trying to weigh up to see if its worth it. 136 bhp in a corsa is that good enough.

    Re: Corsa B 1994

136BHP seemed to be enough for me, went from this:

    to this:

which is why is is sittin on ma drive with rusty panels... lol

the XEV' head is slightly different to the XE, i know that the valve angles are different on the XEV (the angle might be steeper)

I know the Zlet stuff fits as i've been thinking of modifying to suit (ie low comp pistons low comp gasket zlet turbo and ecu obv. more into it than that tho)...

you did a good job of that didnt you lmao but yh the zlet stuff fits on the xev as the heads are very simular just the zlet is less restrictive being a turbo engine, doesnt have any of the egr ports etc

So if i was to get this engine and weld up the egr ports would that improve things. Arghhh im in a pickle aii, my mate had one in his calibra and he said they are quick. I just dont know aii. How quick are we talking though, what type of car will it be on level terms with.

well im putting one in mine as you know and im leaving the egr stuff alone for a bit until i can get a coolant housing off a z20let/c18xe as they dont have egr etc

i think its a good engine and dont care what other people say about it, and it is tunable, look what people on daewoo-tech do to them and some people in america.....just because its in the shadow of the c20xe doesnt mean it cant be tuned

Yehh i suppose so mate. Because of the redtops people dont care about the others, you can tune any engine and with it being a 2.0 aswell there should be a good bit to gain. I have seen some x14xe and x16xe engines pushing 170 bhp so how it cant be done on a 2.0 beats me personally.

Im still unsure weather to buy the engine as it will skint me out untill 2 weeks, and i really need to get other parts for MOT. Grrr

Yehh i suppose your right though mate. I had a good deal earlier too for a re-spray so may get that done first. Need to get a new set of discs and put everything back together and it should be ready for a MOT then. Think ill just get it thrugh MOT and then plan my engine conversion.

Anyone know where i can get an opel badge for my boot handle ??

hahaha, had some help from the backend of a 206... the woman(not that all women are bad drivers) pulled out infront of me at a t-junction, wheels locked, rest is history... lol.

IMO, i'd buy the engine... a 2ltr in a corsa makes a quick car, and you have the opertunity to upgrade to a zlet in the future... :P
