    *****UPDATE*****

Did some more work this evening.

Decided we wanted to see pistons by the end of the evening so set off by stripping the head and getting down to the block.

I'll let the pictures do the talking

Proof it doesn't nee a cat!!!

And that's where we left it!

Very happy with the progress we're making!

Going to stuff alot of it in the parts washer to get it all cleaned and de-greased this week.

    *****UPDATE*****

Thought i'd update some bits ive been doing today and during the week.

Firstly i fitted a vectra steering wheel.

got a rear strut brace for christmas so i fitted that!

started by removing everything out the boot.

Then the sides for easier access

then the strutbrace on and the side back one

Then I cut a gap out of the plate to make it fit over the top

    Then it was all in

So i put everything else back in

Went down the road not expecting much of a difference but i don't know if its me or what but the back end feels really sturdy and it seems to have cured a bit of understeer on more uneven surfaces. It feels really nice to drive!

Dude brace looks good, but being mounted on the strut tops (sitting on rubber) means it wont do anything at all. You need it bolted or welded to the turret on the body.

Agree with Ben on the brace, needs to be welded in place to work as a brace.

Cheers Benn. I shall look in to that!

Do you suggest it goes ontop of the turrets with no rubber then as it is?
    or
do you mean a different style of brace that welds/bolts to the turret individually?
Tbh though i was out last night in it and it is making a difference as it is

    *****UPDATE*****

Well this evening i travelled back to kent to see Red Tom formally known as Corsa Power.

Great guy and great seller as usual! Spoke to him a few weeks back about some soft stars he was getting but couldnt get the locking wheel nuts off.

Today he managed to break free the alloys so i went to collect them.

Got back about 8ish and got a couple of naff photos.

Will get some more soon but here you go

    *****UPDATE*****

Right this evening while i was waiting for Top Gear to start me and the Step dad went out in the garage to get the pistons and crank shaft out!

    This is how it started:

We then set about removing the oil pump.

Took all the odd bolts back out from where i had just wound them back in after taking bits off

Then we started removing the pistons

    Then got the crank out

and then it was time for Top Gear

Hopefully get some more done during the week if i can be bothered
