Got to start a progress thread sometime!









Work is slow at the mo so started the bodywork. The rear arches looked fine but after removing the sealer they needed to be cut out. As it goes a bentley wing has a very close arch shape so the astra now has some bentley in it!

Got the body rubbed down last nyt and it was painted first thing this morning, what do you think?

The wheels will be the same colour as the roof mate, along with the mirror caps and the roof mouldings.

One thing is for sure, its got more paint on it than it did from factory! And some better seam sealer.

More than likely. Dont mine giving you a hand if you need it. Can also get 60% discount on paint (ppg & spies hecker). I got 3.5 litres of 10L in 2k with hardner and thinner for £130 (glasurit ).

Few pics with some bits on the car, trying to find some satin pilllar foil's in black which is holding me up alot!









The engine block is good as its got the girdle i want and its closed deck. Only bit i dont like is the big gear on the crank which will be defunct when the new girdle is fitted.

i put coilovers on 2 days before i sold it was about -70 front -50 back, if i wer you id go for 205/40/17's matey! with 215's on major arch to tyre sex!

Well the body work is not 99% done, few pics of the finished product.













Want to have two 3.5 inch tail pipes on the 3 inch system

Update!
This engine building is going to get expensive. Now got all the bits to send the head off to be ported and shimed etc.

The valves are 1mm over sized. The exhausts are inconel steel to deal with extra heat, im told these material was used in wrc engines. The inlets have waisted stems.

Solid lifters with rs200 shims. These fit over the shaft in the solid lifter.

Double valve springs, retainers and valve guides. These are softer material, if there is paiston meet valves action these should help keep damage to a minimum! But this will never happen.

The cams are custom machined items to a secret spec! Also the all important verniers.

So thats nearly everything read for the head work, only spring platforms to get and then it will be off to the machine shop.
