Arrow SRI X14XE -to- GSI C20LET

As above im wanting to turn my 1995 Corsa SRI into a awesome Corsa GSI with a C20LET dumped in the front

I know the Corsa LET's are getting really popular now and theres some crazy ones on MIGWEB but what i want for my Corsa LET is to be as standard as possible and use as many vauxhall parts (from allsorts of different Vauxhall's) as possible so when the cars done it would look like vauxhall made it themselves.

The car im using i bought earlier on this year
it was in abit of a sorry state when i found it but it had a x14xe in it started up first turn of the key after being stood a while and the shell looked in good condition

Now ive finished my tigra im ready to get on with the corsa ive already stripped it down the only thing left to take out is the engine and box but shouldn't take that long to sort that out.

the car as it is now

good stuff, i really like some of these "factory fit" efforts. can be made to look very nice with the right attention to detail.

definately with an adjustable sports kit. even better go for coilovers as you can set the spring poundages to match the extra weight of the turbo motor

do a sort of standard but uprated effort thats what im doing with mine......make it look as standard as possible an any aftermarket bits u need to use like coilovers and the correct poundage springs due to engine weight could be painted black for instance so they dnt stick out like a sore thumb

well ive already got a set of front coilovers and fixed rears but was gona swap with the standard shocks on my tigra and get some lowering springs but i think i will use the coilovers for the corsa its sits so well with them on now can't wait to see how it is with the LET in

Re: SRI X14XE -to- GSI C20LET

been working on the corsa last couple of days got the doors off now. I've scrapped the wings, doors and bonnet. the engine and gearbox are still in but as soon as i get the engine crane from work i will take them out and get them sold. i've just got to take out the dash and wiring loom and then start the body work on the shell.
im going to bare metal the underside of the car so its easier to weld so i can strengthen the chassis
    bare metal the boot lid
sand down the rest of the body

now the search starts for a pair of post 97 doors with E/W E/M
pre 97 bonnet and a pair of wings

Looks a mint shell that. You spraying the whole car over mate ??

the primer was sprayed on with a can but only to protect the metal for now the full shell will be getting a full respray with gun in and out when i will be rubbing shell right back down, new primer then base etc. the shell is in very good condition even the brake pipes are the standard gm green plastic coated ones with not a mark on them, i spent a while looking for a good base car for my project, yes the paint looks tired but everything else is in great condition.

Thats quality. The quality of paint is not an issue, as long as the shell is mint that all that counts mate. When you get it blown over it will look a 1000x better, and will make you feel good about it. Ill be keeping my eye on this thread. What are the next lot of plans then mate.

i know what you mean with the final paint. this isn't my first project ive done a couple of motorbikes and painted them myself ive restored a couple of classic cars in the past too

plans are to strip the shell totally bare, get rid of any surface rust. prep for paint

trying to find a totally standard c20let engine, not sure weather to go for F20 or F28 box.
black leather interior out of calibra
    standard GSI kit

currently trying to get my mate to part with an imaculate set of Astra F GSI wheels but if he don't wouldn't mind a set of wheels the same as whats on my tigra, only painted black

Be sorted when its painted mate. Spraying yourself then yeh. I'm in the middle of refurbing my alloys, got cavalier sri alloys which are going black. Red and black go lovely together fair play.
