Jack's big comfy diesel road-going boat

Not a Vauxhall, but I'm afraid there weren't many alternatives as I was quite specific with what I wanted.

It's a 115bhp TDDI Ghia. Goes well, stops well and is lovely and comfy. Perfect for a daily car that will hopefully last me a good few years.

Currently looking for alternative accomodation as the other half has a job offer, so hopefully we'll get a project on the go once I've got a proper garage to work in.

I don't understand why you got a Mondeo?? Surely, there has to be a Vauxhall that does all of the above just as well...

Re: Jack's big comfy diesel road-going boat

Not really. The only thing that came close would have been a Vectra B, and I already had one of those. lmao

To be honest, this is in a different world to the Vectra. The build quality is incredible compared to anything I've had before. The second day I had it we folded the seats flat and got a mower in the boot, no problems. I went down to the Ground Zero Weekender last weekend, folded the seats flat, put my sleeping bag in the back and slept in it all weekend.

I love it, it's awesome so far, there's nothing I don't like about it.

They're not that great on fuel apparently, but I agree, that would have been cool.

But mpg isnt everything, the 36 your every was getting would have made me happy. Worrying about mpg it what your granddad should be doing.. not you.

I've worked on to many mondeo's to think they are nice, but it looks tidy and know you'll look after it.

Re: Jack's big comfy diesel road-going boat

Would be nice to see 29mpg in my BMW... If MPG is your thing, why didn't you get a VW? I work at a Ford main dealership and the build quality of those Mondeos is shocking... Just watch out for dash fires

It's OK, mine's direct injection, so it's exactly like the old Isuzus. Same block/head as the TDCI engines, with old school fuel injection.

My old man's getting me a cheeky tuning box ("tuning" lmao ) for it, and I'll just wind the boost up until the smoke dissappears. Decat was well worth it though, even if it is a bit of a placebo modification.

Re: Jack's big comfy diesel road-going boat

Fitted my decat and chip last weekend, goes like **** off a shovel now. Also changed insurance from Direct Line (no modifications if you're under 25, WTF? ) to Admiral (all mods declared, my dad and my girlfriend on the policy for the same price as Direct Line had just me ).

Had a door re-sprayed as well after some little c*nt who couldn't keep their bastard hands to themselves put a nice scratch down it.

Got a new rear wheel bearing on the way as it's developed a bit of a noise. £46 and half an hour to change apparently!

Cheers MSG, it is lovely. I've started taking it for granted now though! I got in it the other morning and the windscreen was steamed up, put the heated screen on and it cleared in seconds.

I remember all those mornings I spent with the blowers on watching the clear patch get bigger and bigger.

    I love it.

HAHA bet you do mate, comfy modern car eh! will be nice and smooth and economical for you... unlesss you keep bolting on bhp lol. My brother has the v6 and although it went well had a fare few problems with things just wearing out quickly and bit falling off lol. Build is just as you would expect a budget exec motor to be. Still looks like a reasonable buy but i reckon i would have went for a passat.

Spent all last weekend doing the rear subframe bushes with my dad. Much nicer to drive now, and doesn't wallow about as much. Been down to Hemel today and blown a boost hose off joining the M1. How cool do I feel? lmao

Need a new one TBH, mine's got a massive foot-long crack in it that developed over night.

One of my old housemates had a Seat Leon with dodgy door seals that used to ice up both sides. I bought him two cans of de-icer for Christmas, one for inside and one for outside. lmao
