    Hmm It's a van man!

Thought I may as well start a little rebuild thread, since I've broken my Corsa again
I've owned it for about 3 years now, and had a few bad days with it and some really good ones.
But last month one of my valve guides cracked, and had a scrap with piston no3
This happened to my last engine, but last time I stuck another engine init, which turned out to be a 20xe
This is why I'm gonna do a rebuild, hoping to keep the cost down, because I'd hate to think how much I've spent on it over the years

    Re: It's a van man!

I had tons of trouble with it not running right, taking a mate out for a rag I blew the middle box uplmao
The thing is, who ever built it in the first place spent a lot of money on it, but it was let down with really poor wiring. The first day I got it ran out of petrol, because the gauge said it was full, and the breather wouldn't let you fill it up on full flow. So I thought it was full
Once I swapped the first engine, it ran like a sack of ****, doing about 10 to the gallon, and had about 90bhp
Then one day I found a full R1 carb set-up for sale, so a long trip up the Yorkshire, and back in one evening, I found a new love for the old shed

This was the kit I got from, a good old boy called, Michael Jackson, who was dead helpfull.
After I blew the middle box up, I fitted a Sportex system, which was well loud.
Too loud as it turned out, at the Castle Combe action day in september, 102db
After I got home, I wasn't too impressed so I didn't drive it, till I got the carbs, because I didn't see any point because it was poo. Because everything was knacked on it, once I went back to basics, it was a different machine

This is what the old girl looks like at the momemt, with my full Irmscher front bumper pre97, and the Trooper ventlmao Which makes me fell like a real plumb, when someone has stuck a fake vent on their bonnetlmao

Still seem to be having trouble doing normal size pictures
Anyway this is my front bumper after, I had some fun with the old rattle cans in my back gardenlmao It's all Irmscher, with a cdx middle bit, and a lower splitter, that I got from MAC.

Cheers, but onwards and upwards, 2.1 here we come, been selling bits on the bay, funding the re-build. Gonna take my time, so it's easier on my wallet.

Yeah I've worked how to post up proper pictures
Anyway that was my damage from my crack guide, and you can see me removing my valves.

cool wee project! The xe's seem to work well on that carb setup, my mate had the same in his nova.

Are you going to get the front bumper colourcoded? would finnish it off imo

Na keeping the bumpers stain black, after some Irmscher side skirts, then I'm gonna ruin them with spray cans
Love the sound they make and the power.

    Thanks for the coments.

    Re: It's a van man!

So I've been a busy little squirrel, and built up a load of parts to get the van back on the road.

I had the block over-bored, and my bronze guides fitted, they found I had 8 bent valves, when they tried to re-set them

I fitted a ATB myself, which I'm really looking forward to trying it out

    Rose jointed the linkage, half-ish

Then built up the short engine, in my front room on the floor, before carrieing down stair to my drive, to bolt on the box, and fit it all into postion.

    Hope you like my progress.
