Re: Nova star smallblock track project

Bit of a random one tonight, firstly got the bits done for mot,
2 x split pins fitted to drive shafts
Headlight sorted the bulb was fitted wrong
Sorted a bad connection on side repeater
    Number plate light connection sorted

Fitted new spark plugs, new lambda sensor, new cts, whilst sorting the cts out i realised that the reason its over fueling is because it had a 1.2 cts fitted, i did this as a temp measure when i changed to the newer type loom as its all i had lying around. it now uses the correct amount of petrol and doesnt make your eyes water when running lmao

Then as a random thought whilst looking at a few dents in the roof, don suggested painting the roof satin black to hide them, that idea went out the window when i only had half a can left.
SO as id been dying to get the compressor and gun on the go, i decided to have a go with some gloss black id had on the shelf.

It came out okish to be fair, its only the second time ive sprayed anything and the last time i completly cocked up so first time properly. Its not perfect but then i dont really care tbh as it looks ok and its just for the track.

Gave the wheels a coat to as there was some left, again **** finish as i didnt rub back properly but im fed up of having non matching set on there.

    Arches got some filler

And how i left it for tonight, need to rub back the filler and paint the rest of the car, im thinking vxr arctic white for a fresh look

    Opinions please

    Cheers
    Ryan

cheers kev, gonna pop up and see how its dried in a bit, am unsure whether to try flat it back or just run some g3 over it and be done, need to look into my spray techniques a bit and get some more use from the gun, much better than cans imo

black roof... NOOOO next its diy angel eye headlights with audi style led side lights

ps white hides WAAAY more than any other colour, hence why most vans and rally cars are that colour, also the easiest to paint. Just respray the whole thing glacier white and be done with it (including the wheels)

no black roof is cool, plus i had the paint there lol, im going to redo the both sides in glacier white and keep the black wheels for now. maybe paint the whole thing when i get bored, gonna try and learn how to paint properly so maybe a few colour alterations lmao.

Re: Nova star smallblock track project

Good day for the nova today

Firstly i took it for its retest where it flew through with no advisorys, emisions are pretty much non existant now compared to the first test. Just looked through the mot history and the last time it was moted was 2007, it expired on 22/07/2008 so that would of been the last time it was on the road.
Also the last 2 mots shown on the history show no advisorys

So after that was sorted i shot down the tyre place to have the tyres swapped onto the cesaros for the back, at last they are on

and the other day i set about getting some paint onto the rear quarter after treating and filling the areas where the arch had been repaired.

    In primer

And then all painted up, not bad finish for a rattle can, filler is still a bit lumpy on the bottom where the arch was badly repaired but its nothing a set of gte skirts wont hide lol

Just need to sort the other side now and give the whole car a mop to get rid of the over spray

Looks easily good enough for a track car, wont be noticeable at 80 on the track...

Re: Nova star smallblock track project

right then, the update ive been waiting for, its now parked outside the house taxed, motd and insured. i just been out and done about 30miles only problem i have come across is that now and again the eml comes on and it then cuts out when the revs drop of, restarts fine tho. im thinking it may be the crank sensor bracket as its cracked and loose. will try and get one before next weekend or make temp reapair. just need to get the passenger seat sorted this week now and she is good to go.
got to say tho even tho its only a 1.6 it pulls so well up the duals for what it is.
